Remember when they deregulated the rail industry, the rail companies slashed spending on safety measures, and there followed a spate of disastrous accidents that spilled toxic chemicals all over America? This is that, but with food.

Not if the point is to intentionally get ppl sick & killed. Given his comments on another matter, I think he wants a population that’s smaller & easier to control

If that's the plan it's a bad one. Historically making people food insecure is one of the BEST ways to make them angry enough to trigger a revolutionary response.

Good grief! No wonder our Canadian neighbors are expressing worry about us on my socials! I don't want to be all "doom and gloom"! But... goodness!

Naomi Kritzer had the insight that making products untrustworthy just makes people stop buying them. Companies want to not do anything or pay anyone to sell what they have lying around, but they aren't used to their contempt having consequences, or having to convince people to buy their products.

I’m really surprised they haven’t tried to spin this into something like “our food supply has always been this bad, we are just now only catching all these outbreaks because the Biden administration was covering them up! You are actually safer now!”

i really appreciate what they are doing, i can reduce my fiber intake since almost every food i love will now make me uncontrollably shit myself

To really understand how much we need inspectors, subscribe to the USDA daily recall digest. EVERY DAY there are recalls of medical equipment, food imported without inspection, food mislabeled to exclude allergens, dangerous supplements—in addition to the bacterial contamination de jour.

What a novel idea. Have you ever considered working for the government? I think you could make a major impact on our country. You’ve made so many common-sense recommendations that I can’t believe they apparently needed to be said out loud.

"everything is a conspiracy when you are dumb and doesn't know how basic things work" turn out these people are doing nothing but being a living truth for this quote by breaking things that worked fine before they put their hands just because they are petty and can't listen to common sense

something something every regulation was written in blood The silver lining to so many tragedies is supposed to be us doing better after and now we're just throwing it all away

A reread of horror/comedy series about English govt agency managing the Eldritch being and their "children" and cults. The one I just finished is about the Mammonite children and their enclave of financial achievement and business acumen Never have I been so prepared for reality.

Never understood why deregulation appealed to anyone but the most corrupt people. It’s like when the Simpsons had the mafia renovate the school to make a disabled access ramp and they built it out of breadsticks, paint and shellac. That’s our government right now. #FatDonny

It's farmers, small business owners and home owners who run into ordinances and city, county, state and federal regulations which are inordinately burdensome. They think deregulations means relief for them, when it almost always just helps large businesses & the rich while increasing burdens on them
