"Forbidden Solitaire is easily one of the best indie card games I've played since Inscryption and The Discarded DLC feels like a spooky encore." God DAMN that's high praise. Thank you Tyler! 🥳🤘

qntm discusses revisiting the Antimemetics Division, the influence of programming on his fiction, hostile systems, scientific realism, information scarcity, and why imagining a genuinely good future may be more difficult than imagining the end of the world. Read the interview below!

Happy 25th Birthday Wayback Machine! On October 24, 2001, The Internet Archive organization launched a free digital archive of websites for the general public called the Wayback Machine. The oldest pages stored in the archive date back to 1996.

This is good intel for my game's min-spec listing on Steam. It's a decently modest computer: 2.3GHz Intel i5 processor, integrated graphics card, 16GB RAM. I could probably go a fair ways below this on both CPU and GPU and still be *playable*, albeit with occasional framerate dips.

<Me, ranting>: "tech bros got rich and forgot their roots, and have forgotten about the importance of kraft" <Discourse>: "right! They just use soulless AI with no sense of craft at all!" <Me, sliding the costco flat of Kraft Dinner that powers my every creation under the rug>: "yeah! That too!"

Just an irregular reminder that hey! I made a videogame about getting revenge on an unaccountable ruling class! It's pretty cool! Here's the trailer:

Go! My Creations! is DONE After a year of design and testing, my new RPG is out and available! All artwork is by the incredible @infinitebrians.neocities.org (check him out). My print order is in the works, and I'll be debuting the physical edition at MAGfest! greenintern.itch.io/go-my-creati...

At great and terrible risk of being wrong after I sleep on it, I think Go! My Creations! is DONE. I will do a proper announcement post and all that once I am 101% sure and send it to the printer tomorrow. Too fried from the final touches and proofing today

I genuinely think those who love video games for what they are and are searching for *somewhere* to call a spade, a spade in this weird era of AI slop, should start looking to @aftermath.site. I'll put it as succinctly as this: giving a shit is a superpower, and they do.

I feel it's important to share this again. The internet is so hostile toward creators nowadays. I've seen people have their work stolen, and no longer feel comfortable sharing their creations. We can do better. Let's be supportive to the people that make this a better place! 💞

Another great demo. A true sandbox platformer, which starts you in a literal sandbox. You've got tons of mobility in every direction, including driving straight up walls, and Scooby Doo air-scampering across gaps. Also you are a Puppy that is also a Truck. And about an inch tall.

I just figured out why Steam Next Fest is recommending a ton of match-3 and puzzle combat games to me. Ever since I implemented Steam achievement support in Torment Hexus, my Steam client thinks that I am playing Torment Hexus whenever I launch the editor. Consequently, my playtime is, uh, high.

Queen of Treasure Isle is an *amazing* game. Lots of secrets to find, gorgeous pixel art and animation, fun puzzles and lateral thinking. If you liked La Mulana, you *need* to play this.

Dominic Tarason@dominictarason.com

Oh yeah, another metroidy shout-out - Queen Of Treasure Isle just updated with another queen to find! It's technically in early access, but only because, despite being a complete game with an endgame and a bunch of optional endgame/NG+ challenges, the dev just keeps adding new stuff. A+ game.

Steam Next fest has started! It seems quite difficult to get noticed in the crowd but I'm out here tryin' my best #indiedev #nextfest #steam

Okay, time for another indie #ShowCasey, Steam Next Fest edition! Do you have a demo in the Steam Next Fest? Would you like more people to see it? Reply to this post with a link to your game's store page, and a quick blurb about it. Only one rule, strictly no generative AI!

I've mentioned before I've updated my contracts to make sure everything in the production of my books is done by humans and not "AI"; if you're wondering what such a thing looks like, here's a clause covering that from a recent contract.

If you're an #indiegamedev #indiegames participating in Next Fest, and you are NOT using genAi poppycock, feel free to put your steam page here if it makes it easier for folks to find your game. I will share and try to get eye balls for you.

Next Fest is back, with a new and improved UI for all your browsing needs! From now until October 26th, check out thousands (literally) of demos for games of all types - from frantic cooking typers to frozen railway games, there's something for everyone. store.steampowered.com/sale/nextfest

Today's critical bugfix: if you have the item that replaces all references to the CEO with "the asshole", it will now correctly add possessives, so you can get "the asshole's eyes flash" or "the asshole's mouth widens", et cetera.

I've never really been a math guy, I mean, I have to do a little math to make loots fly out of crushed monsters, yes, but it is not my forte. Not even my three-tay. That said, I'm pretty sure this dialog is incorrect.
