Really wish renderings had more realistic environment. You won't be able to see Union Station from right field, let alone probably anywhere in the whole stadium. Also Mcgee, Warwick, 26th seem to have been vacated so I don't know how the garage going to be accessed? www.kmbc.com/article/roya...

Annoying that Kansas City still doesn't have a presence here on a social network of tens of millions with many active KC residents. @olatheks.gov seems to be the only metro city with the technical prowess to...sign up for an account and set a DNS TXT record lmao

I'm excited for a @royals.com urban ballpark, but let's make it an urban ballpark. That means not retrofitting the city to speed cars in and out, but connecting it to the neighborhood with bike and pedestrian infrastructure and solid transit — making it easier to get there on foot and on a bike.

Good news, it looks like the cycletrack was not interrupted by Extra Virgin valet! Still strange that of the entire new build, this is the one place with pavers instead of poured concrete but I'll take it.

Very spoiled to get to attend 2 streetcar extension openings in the span of a year. Hopefully this becomes a regular occurrence!

In Europe, where they've slowed cars and invested in safe bike infrastructure, e-bike trips increased by 72 percent in 2025 and injuries per million trips fell by 18 percent. The safety problem is not e-bikes. The problem is US roads are unsafe for everyone, particularly people walking and biking.

Injury rates for e-bike and scooter users are plummeting in Europe even as the use of those devices has exploded since 2021, according to a new study that debunks the myth that roadways are getting less safe as a result of the micromobility boom. usa.streetsblog.org/2026/05/08/e...

This lane isn't complete yet, but I really hope this isn't the intended use for this new lane. The sign in the right says Valet Only Fri/Sat 5-11pm, but it also says Paid Parking M-F so I think it's the old signage.

"Infrastructure redesign — including separated lanes and intersection protections — may offer the most immediate opportunity to reduce neurosurgical trauma burden," wrote the authors of a new study about e-mobility and ER visits. But that's not the takeaway that some anti-bike groups are spreading.

Left field suites smoosh right up against the American (you can see the distinct off-angle box), which implies the backside of Hall's (already closed) will probably be reworked to be a stadium entrance directly connected to the 3rd floor of Crown Center Shops. Neat!

The routes crossing the Crossroads/Crown Center divide over the tracks are not great. Mainly narrow concrete barrier gutters on bridges, with Grand being the nicest one - but even there we have some pretty bad neglected buildings. Should probably put thought into walkability here.

Note that the rendering is actually missing a new 5 story University Health building at 25th & Charlotte! Hopefully we'll see more infill on surface lots. I assume since Hallmark owns the lots north of 27th they'll play into new Royals private development (can you say hotel at 27th and Grand?)

Stadium NE corner looks like potential entertainment/entrance. The current 25th/Pershing/Gillham intersection is not very walkable (especially the west side), hopefully we see a complete rework of the roads here.

The traffic on Gillham here will get worse, so I hope we can utilize a CBA to harden the Gillham cycletrack (and probably 27th lanes).

I like how Our Lady of Sorrows is squished in on the corner. Really feels like the stadium is built into the city instead of on top of it.

Big news, Kansas City! The #kcstreetcar Riverfront Extension officially opens for passenger service on Monday, May 18 & you’re invited to celebrate with us at 11 a.m. on the riverfront! More details soon.

Yesterday, Kansas City eliminated outdated minimum parking requirements across much of the city. The old rules drove up construction costs, kept storefronts empty, and made it harder to build affordable housing. This is how we build a more walkable, more affordable Kansas City.

Replying to @josephpolitano.bsky.social

Ridership on the Kansas City streetcar is also up 290% compared to this time last year after the opening of the main street extension to UMKC! The system now has more ridership than the New Orleans streetcars, and is set to be extended to the riverfront this year.

Looks about the width of a cycletrack, hopefully this is phase 2 of the 19th/SW Blvd road diet! This will connect Gillham to SW Blvd.

Starting at 8PM on Sun, 3/22, the North Loop Northbound streetcar stop will be temporarily closed for maintenance. During this time, northbound riders can board & exit at either the Library Northbound stop or the City Market stop. This work is expected to last approx 4–5 days.

Brookside. 39th Street. River Market. 18th and Vine. Westport. All of these neighborhoods — largely built before 1950 — would be illegal to build under today’s zoning laws. Soon, the Kansas City Council may consider legislation that aims to change those regulations. thebeaconnews.org/stories/2026...
