Zander Cannon | SLEEP HC/TPB out now!!

PINNED INTRO POST: Hi, I'm Zander; I've been making comic books since 1993. My best known solo books are Heck, The Replacement God, and Kaijumax, and I've done art duties on such works as Top 10 and Smax. I've also done a great deal of educational graphic novels and layout assists for DC comics!

Bad Art response to bad art

100% this and proud to have @lydiakauppi.bsky.social on our team.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

Looking for a great horror comic? Check out Sleep by @zandercannon.bsky.social! It’s a tremendously paced monster/mystery tale that is beautifully drawn, expertly plotted, and just damn fun to read. I finished the book and immediately started re-reading it. Buy or borrow a copy ASAP!!!

I don’t have copies of #TopTen at @mncbaorg.bsky.social this weekend but if you buy one from @zandercannon.bsky.social I’ll sign it! In Minnesota at www.mncba.org

“If you don’t like public executions just don’t watch it” says the crowd trying to ban drag shows and books

Twin Cities comics fans! Come see me and the rest of the reprobates of World Monster HQ at @mncbaorg.bsky.social 's FallCon this weekend -- Sat 10-5, Sun 10-4 -- at the State Fairgrounds!

"slams," or "accurately encapsulates why people like it"?

He could have been a globetrotting boy reporter teaming up with a salty sea captain, a deaf scientist, and two bumbling policemen, but he chose this

Another winner from @zandercannon.bsky.social. A genuinely unique take on this kind of story. Genuinely eerie and unsettling with excellent artwork and writing. One of my favorite horror comics in awhile. The last panel made me emotional in a good way.

Shout-out to @zandercannon.bsky.social from @flophousepodcast.com @dankmccoy.bsky.social @elliottkalan.bsky.social and Stuart Wellington Re: top 3 list of kaiju not starting with the letter G: "I hope Zander Cannon's listening to this episode and getting angry that we're forgetting obvious ones."

Celebrate the launch of @sweetshop.app, the new digital comic shop for fans of discerning taste, by buying all three of @zandercannon.bsky.social's INCREDIBLE Kaijumax HCs in this incredibly discounted bundle. Kaijumax, of course, comes with my highest of recommendations, and check out Sweet Shop!

A commission for funsies.

Cat, I Farted, is this real?

Architect's assistant.

Dropped Jin (age 18) off at college. The restaurant where we had an early dinner made the terrible choice to play "The Cat's in the Cradle" over the speakers.

NEW ADVICE-FROM-LIEBER LIST! I've posted these tips as a thread before, but I figured it's about time I made it available as a single, shareable image.

Fun fact: this came out the same year as my very first comic (Chainsaw Vigilante No. 1, 1993), and since Walter Koenig went to my alma mater (Grinnell College), the two comics were featured together in an article in the alumni magazine.

Saw Weird Al at the MN State Fair last night (along with Puddles' Pity Party) (it ruled)

Today's morning read is issue 21 of Absolute Superman by @jason-aaron.bsky.social @rafasandoval.bsky.social @zandercannon.bsky.social Ulises Arreola & @beccasee.bsky.social This is the finale of the Reign of the Superman storyline and it was a fantastic read. This is an amazing book.

I've been watching Among Us lately and it rules. I recommend it.

There's no reforming this rogue and monstrous agency. The only way forward: Abolish and prosecute ICE.

In Double Take, @oliversava.bsky.social and @davidharper.bsky.social take a look at the recently released collection of @zandercannon.bsky.social's @imagecomics.com series SLEEP, and the gang went deep in a discussion about this series about a haunted man who turns into a monster whenever he sleeps.

An absolutely fascinating reframing of my recent Image series SLEEP (now collected in hardcover and TPB) that names and weighs the various moral philosophies at play in both the protagonist's and the townsfolk's actions. A very cool analysis of something I only meant to be a ripping yarn!

Sleep by @zandercannon.bsky.social is more than just a compelling, inventive comics take on the classic Werewolf or Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde gothic horror comicphilosophy.com/e3a6 It presents a normative ethics problem along the lines of the zero-sum, no-win scenario of the Trolley problem. But ...1/2
