The concept of universal health care is good but there's a misconception that Medicare is free and covers everything. Besides the fact we pay into the program all our working lives, a $202 premium is deducted from monthly social security checks. An extra policy is required if you want Rx coverage.

My best understanding of history is that our current system was never intended to be permanent. Offering private insurance was away for companies in World War II to offer other forms of compensation when money was tight. When you lose your job, you lose your insurance. This is unacceptable.

Me too. I am from a long line of educators, some at the college level and some at the primary. I had an excellent education in the public schools in Colorado that not only prepped me for college but also for the rest of my life. Always thankful for that and the skilled, dedicated teachers I had.

Attn pro-lifers: Medicare 4 All can save countless unborn lives. Moms resort to abortion b/c they can't pay the ~$50K an uncomplicated delivery costs in the US. The "most pro-life president" cut Medicaid in his "big ugly bill".

What people do not understand is that Medicare for Seniors is not free. Part A has no premiums, but has co-pays. Parts B, C and D have premiums and co-pays. Insurance offered by many companies for their employees is better coverage than Medicare.

Medical costs have gone through the roof due to monopolies formed by the federal and state government. Now you want them to control all of healthcare and make Medicare the provider. We will go broke taxes will not be enough.

If Congress removes the CAP on Social Security and Medicare, that keeps the RICH from paying on 100% of their earnings, think of how many people's lives would be saved.
