I have been struck with something. We all mourn the death of Charlie Kirk. It absolutely was pure evil. But there have been an immense amount of school shootings… against children.. and the GOP doesn’t show 1/456th of the remorse they demand America shows for Charlie

They don’t actually give a shit about Charlie, either. That’s mostly performative 🐴💩. They just can sense it’s the perfect outrage vehicle for them to mash the gas on every authoritarian tendency they already have.

DEMOCRATS HAVE NOTICED SINCE SANDY HOOK. Has Alex Jones payed up yet? It won't bring back those children, or give their parents peace about how they died, BUT IT GIVES ME JOY KNOWING THAT THAT CALOUSED, UNFEELING, INHUMANE MONSTER LOST HIS WEALTH IN THE COURT SYSTEM. He deserves worse, but ok.

I mourn the *method* of his death, not his actual death. As far as I'm concerned, it's one less hateful bigot in the world. And if conservatives are beside themselves because some people aren't sufficiently sad a bigot died, boy are they in for a surprise when Trump dies choking on a Big Mac.

If I'm being honest, I have to say I don't mourn Charlie Kirk. Before his death, I'd never even heard of him. I choose to mourn those innocent school children killed while sitting in their classrooms!

Kirk’s death should be MAGA’s Mark Kinsella/Doc Graham moment in Field of Dreams, when Moonlight Graham crosses the base path and turns into Doc Graham, saving Karin from choking on a hot dog. Mark asks when the ball players got there. Somehow, I fear MAGA still can’t see the school massacres.

I do not mourn Charlie Kirk, but the slaughter of children in the classroom and the shooter drills we force our children to endure is cruel and frankly repugnant. We’re a sick society.

If you convince people that all that matters is the "afterlife" then it doesn't matter to them if there is human destruction on earth. That part of the population which was exploited to give a man power and money as a kind of ridiculous tribute just doesn't give a shit about anyone else.

I have a difficult time mourning his death, as his divisiveness has been minimized and often celebrated. I feel bad for his family, but why waste energy on a man who marginalized and said hateful things about so many?? His themes of racism, xenophobia, transphobia & homophobia cannot be minimized.

The cognitive dissonance is eating me alive now. Pointing out the obvious seems like it doesn't even matter anymore, and decisive actions must be taken as a collective. I wish talking heads we trust would spell it out - do this now, then that, then that, rather that stating the obvious.

The point is we have a right to not mourn it. Yes, he was a husband and a father but he had repulsive, racist, bigoted views that couldn’t be farther from mine. I mourn people I care about. That is my right.

Please don't speak for me. I don't mourn the death of a hate spewing religious zealot any more than I mourn the death of that mosquito I slapped on my arm last night. Express your opinion. Don't include me. Thank you for your attention to this matter

Is it that Charlie brought so many votes for the GOP? School children do not vote so they do not matter to elected people I only see the self interests in politicians morn what has hurt them or that will stop them getting them re elected Power corrupts so many are happy to die whilst still in power

Bingo. Or that Minnesota congresswoman’s death, as if she wasn’t worth it. Or hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians who Trump effectively sentences to death by lying and doing Putin’s bidding. You get it bro

I'm not sure they're mourning Charlie Kirk either. I think they're using him to silence and intimidate people. Much like the deployment of the national guard was to suppress crime. But It wasn't. It's all part of a larger plan to achieve an authoritarian dictatorship.

This has been my issue all along. Gun violence and murder is always an evil act. Where is the outrage on the right for all of the children, the churchgoers, the shoppers, movie watchers, nightclub partiers, college students, dem house members…and the list goes on. The hypocrisy is staggering.

If the shooter had opened fire on the crowd and “merely” taken out 6 or 8 college students instead of CK, this very likely would have been like any other school shooting - and less than a blip in conservative news cycles.

Ummm, no. We didn't "all mourn the death". He was a terrible person and frankly the world is better off without him and his poison in it. Am I glad he was shot (while trying to normalize gun violence as an acceptable price of gun access)? Of course not. But mourning him? Fuck that and fuck him.

I grieve for the surviving families of the shooting victims who died needlessly due to the policies Kirk aggressively pushed, including his children. No one deserves the fate he was pushing others to experience, not even his own family and children.

Charlie Kirk did not deserve to be shot and killed violently by the gun he worshipped. His murder was a travesty. But I do not mourn for him. Why would I mourn for a person who wanted to see me subservient to a man, who spread the notion that I should be stoned to death, or who denigrated women?

I dont mourn Charlie Kirk at all. He was a bigot, a chauvanist, a propagandist, and an apologist for school shootings, fittingly shit dead at a school. Being murdered didn't make him a good person. Charlie Kirk was Hitler Youth Instagram Edition.

I had a woman write to me: "The death of those kids is part of the MOVEMENT of Charlie Kirk." I was reading comments below hers when they all disappeared. She had dirty deleted her comment and those who replied to her comment. And they ALL had said it was okay. Sick, sick, sick.

I believe it was Mr. Rock who also reminded us of a message we can all use at a time like this: "Bawitdaba da bang da bang diggy diggy diggy said up drop the boogie." Up drop the boogie, indeed, Mr. Rock. Up drop the boogie, indeed.

I'm mourning the death of Robert Redford. Now there was a guy who tried to make a positive impact on this world. Someone who cared about environmental issues and was a fine actor. I mourn him. And as far as political violence, it has no place in the world, and that's the extent of my feelings.

Me too. I'm far more sad for the innocent kids who die in their classrooms; people who are killed in movie theaters; churches, clubs, and even Walmarts. I don't know why other countries can make it safer for their citizens and we can't

Hi there from Germany, we are so lucky to - not ! - have a Second Amendment and most of us are not obsessed with owning assault rifles, so our government is usually able to protect our kids at school. We're watching our former dear ally in deep sorrow...

Yet the very people calling for the asses & livelihoods of people failing to sit shiva for Kirk erected a gallows for Mike Pence & Nancy Pelosi among others on the Capitol lawn just a few years ago, mocking Paul Pelosi's grave injury & the Hortman's plus dog murders. Fuck 'em, every one.

And the fact that politicians don't seem to care about the school shootings and the deaths of these children; seeing it as collateral damage for money, power and the osession eith gun culture, is more evil.

I don't mourn Charlie Kirk. I mourn the shooting of Charlie Kirk and the assault on freedom, thats happening because of it. Sorry, but if Charlie Kirk had died in his sleep because of some health issue, I wouldn't mourn him. So why would I mourn his person now?

Do not include me in your use of "we." I do not mourn his death. I mourn our democracy because of people like him and his followers. I mourn what is happening to free speech because people have turned him into a martyr. He's just another murder victim because of guns.

Maybe a 1/3 if that much of the country mourns him but not me. Yes, he is a murder victim who died a senseless death as will many more each day until Congress represents the will of the people and enacts sensible gun control, and work for their constituents not a feeble king with oligarch masters.

These were my thoughts as well listening to the GOP express their collective shock, horror, outrage, and desire for retribution after Kirk's assassination — where is that same level of shock, horror, outrage, and desire for retribution when children are assassinated in their classrooms???

I'm sorry, but I see too much death every day to mourn every time someone dies. I intellectually acknowledge the tragedy and I can empathize. Maybe if I was a little less stressed about where my country is headed I would have more emotional bandwidth.

Never have and never will. I mean the #NRA lobby has lost a lot of its power, but now all the red meat that they have thrown to their rabid dogs has come home to roost. Maga better tow the line because their most rabid are armed, without safeguards, thanks to #MAGA

I absolutely DO NOT mourn Charlie Kirk's death, not even the slightest bit. He was a piece of shit, a horrible excuse for a human being. I save my mourning for good people who deserve it.

There’s a guy on tiktok that says that dems should bring forth a Charlie Kirk bill. Promote common sense gun laws. Let’s see how Republicans would vote.

Those lives don’t matter as much as MAGA lives. And to be fair: they don’t really care about Kirk, it’s political capital. You know how the GOP is about controlling the narrative. Nothing has value to them except power

Yes, & I was thinking about how awful the footage of Kirk getting shot in the head is, & then well, this same thing's happening to children all over the US. Many times over. But we never see it 'cause it's in the classroom. Do we have to see it to care more? What will it take for us to take action?

They can demand all they want, but I have not spent 1 moment sorry about the death of Charlie Kirk. I'm sorry his family are going through this, but if he were a better person they wouldn't be going through this.

I mourn the deaths of millions of dogs every year who had the extreme misfortune to be homeless, surrendered by owners for shitty reasons, abandoned and outright abused. I mourn the deaths of babies and children at the hands of others. While i don't celebrate his death, I don't mourn it either.

I don’t believe we all mourn the death of Kirk & his spite. I believe we all acknowledge that political violence like this has no place in society. I believe we all acknowledge the importance of language post his death I believe we mourn what his kids had to see & we mourn what Americas becoming.

Violence is an anathema to American democracy. If we believe in free speech, we should be able to speak our minds without fear of violence. I dud not share Kirk’s views, but when someone is snuffed out because of their views then we are all at risk—every single one of us. It cuts both ways.

Bridge too far for me. I am NOT mourning his death. Are you serious right now? Should that have been the way he died? Hell NO. I hope the shooter faces the maximum penalty. But to say we should "mourn" his death.... I'm out. Good luck walking that fine line you seem to want to walk.

who was charlie kirk? the right make him out to be some political saint (he wasnt), he had the the right to speak his voice and opinions freely without fear of persecution like all of us should. The current administration and some on the left consider opposing voices as enemies which they are not.

I don’t understand why Dems aren’t using this horrific event to go hard on gun reform. They should keep reminding everyone 24-7 that they have pushed for common sense gun legislation forever, and that, with it, Charlie Kirk might still be alive.

I think of it as common sense gun reform could have prevented an entire generation of young white men from growing up steeped in the type of gun porn and gun worship and casual gun violence that leads to them thinking that going out and shooting someone is the answer to their anxieties.

Please don’t say “we all”. I’m half Black and he was a white supremacist. I don’t mourn it at all. That’s not condoning it. But I don’t have to mourn the death of someone who hates the thought of me existing.
