The change could make it easier for states to rely on nursing homes, psychiatric facilities, and other institutional settings rather than expanding services that allow people to live independently in their communities.
Given that no locked institution has enough beds, this faulty interpretation will fail, epically. And I am confident that @aclu.org will have a a motion to force them to follow the ADA requirements.
@governorwalz.mn.gov @govpritzker.illinois.gov @governor.ca.gov @govsherrill.bsky.social States need to codify disability protections into state constitutions (same with voting, marriage, right to choose, due process, etc.)
I work for a non profit that provides home based community care for elders. The people under 60 who need home based community services due to disability is a huge need that is under funded as it is, now the SCOTUS is giving a green light to states to rip help away. Tell me again how GOP is pro-life!
Someone should sue the justice department for making health determinations without a medical license. Home services keep people out of expensive institutions. People who receive mental health services may end up incarcerated without community services, which is more expensive. So taxpayers will pay.
Stunningly ignorant. So the administration wants to warehouse the disabled like it warehouses immigrants? Here's the memo: www.justice.gov/olc/media/14...
