I had a lifetime LibraryThing membership & was going to catalog my entire collection of books but then I realized that's some busman's holiday shit, since I'm a librarian in my day job. It's been sitting in a box w/my gameboy, discman, several flip phones, & every variation of cord you can imagine.

That's the version I had stolen like 10 of from an event. I was gonna be KING of the CueCats. In some ways, I guess I am...

Isn't CueCat basically a primitive version of using our phone to open QR codes? Like yeah that particular technology was a dead end, but the basic concept ended up being very successful.

somebody tried to @ me w "it's not the technology that's the problem, it's the people behind it" nonsense and i just want to be clear that it's the people behind the plagiarism machine AND the plagiarism machine. both. both problems. AI cheerleaders need to find an audience who cares. it's not me.

I'm sure it's a function of who's on the platform overall but the fact that I can make one little joke about AI and the bros come a-running to defend it and tell me I'm wrong, but I can talk about abortion all day long and never hear shit from an anti somethin goin on there

And implementation details matter. 1. The smartphone replaced so many different devices. Everyone has the necessary camera and processor in their pocket now. 2. QR codes store far more than the CueCat codes.
