They do! The intent of highlighting it in this context was simply to show disrespect. This may have been among the mildest disrespectful cartoons I could have drawn... but I'm just not usually someone who does this. It gets the point across, I hope.

"This is our Reichstag fire!" Yeah. Because you're NAZIS. Because you're always looking for ANY excuse to go full Kristallnacht on the same people you ALWAYS target: queer people, Jewish people, and Black and brown people. You haven't even chosen new targets in 90 years. Fascists are morons.

Are some of the ominous parallels a factor of similarities between the people or the situation? It can’t be both on the grounds that you cannot separate the idea of the Nazi’s from the atmosphere of 1930’s Germany. 🇩🇪 Are all of them willing participants or are they scared and being led astray?

You know what we call the Germans who supported the Nazi party in the 1930's because they had economic fears and were led astray? Nazis. Their motivations being fear instead of hate doesn't make them not Nazis. Their actions and their words do.

when a mass shooter dies in their own shooting, is it tragic? In a sense it is, because it would be better if one fewer life could have been lost. but we rightly don’t focus on mourning the shooter and might even be glad he’s dead Likewise when political violence rebounds on its loudest proponent.

I thought I wanted to celebrate, but then I just realized I wasn't joyful, but grateful. He can't lie anymore. He can't proclaim "healthcare is not a right" as people are killed by having care taken away. His stochastic terrorism and social murdering days are over. Forever. It's a relief.

It would have been nice to live in a world where men like Kirk weren’t rewarded for being the worst versions of themselves, or a world in which they reconsidered their actions and made reparation for the harm they’d caused. That is not this world. What else would have stopped him spreading hatred?

I’m more cynical; there was absolutely nothing motivating him to change his ways, and quite some incentive, financially and socially, for him to continue being a stochastic terrorist hatemonger. Only death could have stopped him, and now he’s dead.

If we were actually in the civil war Maga so desperately want, this would make sense. But we aren't. Charlie Kirk should have been eliminated by leading thinkers, accountable politicians, and a stronger society. Everyone can take their moral high ground as we descend into anarchy. Not a fan.

It would be funny how fast the mask came off the free speech and gov "tyranny" crowd if I didn't know it was horseshit. He was a pos and coming after anyone who speaks the truth will not change that. Ever. It will be true long after you fascists can't get any more milk from the teat of his death.

I would not go so far as to celebrate, but I will say my eyes are quite, quite dry wrt to Charlie's passing. Certainly no reason for me to mourn his death other than a universal "no man is an island" sentiment.

Cisgender but Romani person here. 80+ years ago, not one, but millions of Nazis, were killed. Which is the reason I and any of my people (also Jews, LGBTQ+ and disabled people) exist. With the Nazi that died last week gone, fewer innocent people will suffer and die. Decent people don't regret that.

In my opinion, the "martyr effect" is a myth. Rockwell likely would have been more influential (and thus destructive) if he'd continued his agitation. And I believe the same is true for the Nazi that died last week. He would have become extremely powerful and destroyed many innocent lives.

Name 1 other fascist that invited open dialogue and debate and handed the mic over to those he, supposedly, hated? He was a fascist to you because you disagree with Conservative views. That, by definition, makes you a fascist- and then you silenced the opposition via political assassination.
