SORKIN: You just said Powell should 'cash in' on his role as Fed chair. Would you say the same thing about a senator who finishes their term? I think the American public thinks that's untoward CRAMER: As a nation, we're cynical toward anybody that does figure out how to make a little bit of money

The normalization of greed started by Reagan has won. Trump is the embodiment of grifter greed. If the president can do it in broad daylight without any consequences, with the GOP giving a nod and a wink, then it is now accepted as normal. A fish does, indeed, rot from the head down

Anyone who makes money from working as a servant to the public after leaving office but worse whilst in office should be scrutinised by the judiciary. The more senior the position the more rigorous and essential for it.

These Republicans are twisting themselves in knots to show support for Trump's initiatives, even though they, themselves, don't believe in them. I'd wager my retirement that almost every senator believes in a clear, distinct line between the Fed and the President.

Yeah, you're figuring out how to make money by screwing over the voters. 🖕🤨🖕 Politicians shouldn't ever be "cashing in" on anything. They are there to govern, not profit.

Republicans love to frame their financial double dealings as "a little bit of money" as if it was taking an extra piece of candy out of the jar. These F'kers are raking in billions off the most corrupt administration in American history. As a nation we're cynical with good reason.

Only because you guys almost exclusively find a easy, cheap & lazy way to make money at the American people’s expense & instead of looking harder for a different, more ethical way, you just go with that

I'm cynical about anybody who makes a lot of money by trading on information not available to the general public. Beyond that it's unfathomable to me that anyone can accumulate enough $$ for infinite profligate lifetimes without paying huge amounts in taxes aka Eisenhower 90% top tax bracket.

- This moment in time, is our opportunity to reshape America to serve We The People & not just rich f’ing people — We need to get to work now, Uniting, Organizing & Utilizing our collective strength to mold American govt into what it was always supposed to be which is a tool to serve We The People 🇺🇸

Yeah, like when someone "figures out" how to steal, take bribes, shakedown, defraud, or otherwise weasel money that ultimately comes out of my pocket or damages any feature of my economy or environment. Call that, "cynical".

You get a salary, but like most politicians, the greed comes from taking money from lobbying, special interest groups, and insider trading. It’s the corruption part we don’t like

As a nation, we look askance at any *public servant* who seeks to use their position for self-enrichment. The depth of corruption has placed a seemingly permanent layer of sleaze over public office, and that is a problem that is going to require true, sustained effort to overcome.

I like Sorkin, but here is yet another example of him stepping all over his question with a verbose preamble. He does it all the time. Ask the question and let the guest show how misguided he is.

"make a little bit of money"??? Very condescending attitude and statement from someone validating the privileges being afforded to the thieves doing business with the thieves within the orange regime.
