Trump: "I didn't know what the hell a red card was. When I found out, I said, 'You gotta be kidding!'"

If he still has that Putin soccer ball gift and would like a detailed demonstration of the difference between a yellow and red card foul, I’m happy to volunteer. It would be a great service to the nation.

I was actually all in for the USMNT until the orange blowhard inserted himself into the process. Now I'm just embarrassed. You knew that the POS would find a way to make the World Cup all about him.

Same thing with USA hockey. Excited for 2 secs until Kash is slamming beers and the team is on the phone with the pedophile

Just more of "the rules - which every soccer player and fan around the world know - apply to you but not to me (or my team). Sadly, soccer is experiencing what we in the US have come to expect from the Trump regime. Disgusting.

Many Americans wouldn’t understand this, but FIFA have suspended entire countries from international competition for less political influence than this. This, from the President of the host nation is disgraceful.

"Look, I don't believe in rules" Thing is FIFA had an easy escape route. There was no way to reverse the red card but they could have said "We were investigating it but your phone calls make a reversal impossible without calling our integrity into question." (I know FIFA integrity😁)

I thought he "had all the ♦️♠️ cards" maybe another reason his casinos went bankrupt? If you own a business that has legal gambling maybe take an interest in related events that pay your bills?

trump is forever bragging about his knowledge of sports yet he's just now learning what a red card is? Barron is said to have played soccer in high school, so we can surmise that daddy never attended a single game.

Where are all the magas that tell athletes to stay outta politics. It goes the other way no? The Felon scum traitor ruins everything! He will be handing out pardons for red cards before long.

He's like a freaking budgie. Every day when the cover comes off the cage, it's a totally blank slate and he doesn't remember anything at all from the previous day (or month or year). I think he's being honest when he says he didn't know what it was.

Openly admitting you know shit all about football when you're hosting the World Cup, and have been awarded a prize by FIFA, is not a great look for Trump... or FIFA. He could at least have lied about supporting Aston Villa.

Imagine saying "I'm good at this" and "I didn't think it was a foul" followed by "I didn't know what a red card was" and not immediately shrivelling in shame...

I am not a knowledgeable soccer fan but how many red cards are for "punching someone in the face"? For me, that's the most obvious tell that he doesn't know what red cards are for. I mean I am sure an occasional fight does happen but I think it's usually for other things, right?

Very few. I may be wrong, but in the English premier league last season I can't remember any. Usually two yellows, but straight red is usually serious foul play (i.e. a bad tackle) or denying a goal scoring opportunity.

@northfield.bsky.social didn’t you miss Wolves vs Arsenal? Walker Peters got a straight red for DOGSO in stoppage time last May. Crazy stuff — those late-game reds stick in your memory more than the usual two

Thanks! It just stuck out as a completely idiotic thing to say. Of course I hadn't watched the whole thing and then heard him say "you can't give a red card to the best player." Which is another idiotic thing to say!

I’m so done listening to him, it’s just all the same, bragging, insulting people, lying, saying things that doesn’t make sense. Everything is always about him and nothing for the American people.

He knows what a red card is. He is a liar and interfered in the World Cup. I hope he attends a game as he will be booed and harassed like he has never been in his life. He robbed the joy of the game from futbol fans across the world.

"Harry Kane" Funny you should say that Donald, Jarell Quansah was sent off for an unintentional foul against Mexico ruling him out of the Norway game. Looking forward to your interference on our behalf. Twat.
