Everywhere, home, schools, offices, subways, gyms, on the road. Don't have to be invasive to just be kind: acknowledge others, smile, share, wait, ask, help, move out of the way, say thank you...

Magic moments. Could be a good President! 😉 Happier Country with positivity outperforming hurt, division and profiteering.

My dad was my high school principal. He was also this guy. He brought donuts to school every Friday & put them out on a table for kids and teachers. He high fived kids in the hall, popped in on band practice (he was a band/choir/orchestra director too), was at every home ballgame. I miss him a lot.

My HS principal was also this guy. Walked the halls every day. Did quick sit-ins on every classroom. Knew most of the 4,000 kids by name. Joked around and generally was a positive presence around campus students felt comfortable talking to - even the “trouble” kids. All while running a tight ship.

He sounds like a good one. How lucky you are to have such great memories. 💕 My wish for the new school year is that all students are lucky enough to have a positive fun influence like your dad and this guy in their school life

Beautiful to see. I believe it goes on in most schools, where our dedicated educators do marvelous things, every day, for not enough pay. Here in NC, the principals took a pay cut, in the first budget passed in 2 years by scumbag GOP. All tutors were fired. GOP refuses to raise tax, for anything.

Management by wandering around was a theory in 80’s I think & there’s something to it if done in a positive way. That said, creating a positive school culture is more than hi-fives in halls - how are teachers respected & supported? Have seen people who high-five but it comes from performative place

My kids had two principals with this kind of positive spirit and genuine love for education and kids when we lived in Rochester, MN. The difference between principals who set a fear-based/ punitive tone and growth-mindset/ positive tone is amazing

My youngest son had a grade school principal like him back in Nutley NJ. His name was Mr. Walker, he seemed to know all of the kids by name, he'd hi five them in the halls, even showed up at many of their sporting events to cheer for them. He was an amazing, wonderful person who kids/parents loved!

Had a principal like that. I ran my class w/ positivity. Rarely sent a kid to the principal for discipline bc I thought it rested with me. When I did they needed to know it was serious (bullying, violence, etc.) But they'd come out his "mate." They loved him but he was useless. Need to be both.

Speaks to the times we’re living through right now that watching that made me well up. There’s such a decline in just simply being nice and caring about each other.

When I was younger an educator got fired for hugging a student. This guy should have more restraint. We have learned that lots of people like to abuse children here in the USA and while this video is a positive my mind went to suspicion immediately.

I had a 7th grade homeroom/ social studies teacher like that l will never forget her Ms.Johnson she was a typical hippy right from 60's ..so postive and vibrant. She had a big impact on our school life..she made it fun

For all the people who are out there saying the bless them bullshit. Give the schools the supplies they need. Give the schools the support they need. Schools are struggling like crazy. Bless them does nothing for the problems that schools are facing. Put your money where your mouths are.

I watched the Principal get down on the floor next to a crying autistic child. He sat there and talked to the child until the boy calmed down. That was nice to see.

I love this! Some school districts forbid touching of any kind between staff and students. I have a friend who works in a public school with kids who have special needs. At the bus stop a student hugged her. Not thinking, my friend bent down & kissed the top of her head. She was suspended.

I had a teacher like this named Mr. Clausen. He would give me noogies and sometimes "detention" just because he knew I had a hard time at home. He'd just let me read comics and books. He died of cancer, one of the best teachers I ever had. We pranked each other all the time.

I had the privilege of working for a woman principal who was just like this. Those were the best years of my career. She’d been an LSU cheerleader, and brought that delightful personality into everything she did. Cathy Homer was an amazing boss.

At every school I attended I never saw the principal or assistant principal walking the halls unless someone was in trouble. I’m glad to see this man changing the dynamics of that.

Here's the deal: that school is K12...or maybe k-6 Watch him modify greetings for age, level and personality...& older students respond Watch him remember specialized greetings for certain kids I bet you he reaches harder to reach kids in different ways He’s earned their respect That's gold

It’s the way everyone could be like this if they wanted to ppl choose to be assholes it’s weird it’s so much more helpful to your own happiness. I often wonder about guys like Musk and Bezos and all other ppl of money influence and power why they choose to be assholes when they could do so much good

I love seeing the connection he’s making w/ students. Too many in admin stay behind their desks & only interact when it’s a disciplinary issue. Get out in the halls & make a positive impact …it could completely turn around a child’s day for the better!

The principal at the high school I worked at ends her daily announcements with and “I love you.” Our students were from underprivileged households so I know that means a lot.

Did you know that poor people love their kids as much as wealthier people? It’s true. I’ve lived in both worlds and actually know. Wealthy people are so strange how they think being poor means you don’t love your kids. Weird.

I am a teacher. My philosophy about education is this: there is not one single thing I can teach my students that they cannot learn on that rectangular computer they carry with them everywhere they go. Not one! The only thing “I” can do is make learning fun. Fun! Fun! Fun!

This is such an easy thing to do, but in my 35 years teaching, I only saw this kind of connection between administrators and students once. She was an assistant principal who knew every child’s name and greeted them at the school’s entrance every morning.

You're lucky to have had that experience early. Those teachers plant seeds that keep growing for years. The best part is you can probably remember exactly what they did differently. That's the kind of thing worth paying forward when you get the chance.

I just made a comment that this reminds my of my kid’s public school in Texas. I’m sure you’re right but lots of teachers aren’t leaving. They are staying. And fighting. Many of us are 3rd, 4th gen Texans and we don’t leave when things get tough.

I was watching the local news this morning regarding Ft Worth schools, which were taken over by TEA. Teachers are leaving, because of that. I have friends who teach in Corpus area and they love their jobs. Texas just needs to do better for teachers. #VoteBlue

This reminds me of my kid’s public school in Texas. The amazing thing is this is happening every day, all over the country but awful ppl like Linda McMahon would like to tell you otherwise so they can stop this exact thing and terrify parents.

Oh wow., I have tears 😭. These posts are so helpful and heartwarming! Thank you so much 🙏. Some of you guys don’t know just how important these posts are to someone.

I used to work in a school where our admin was like this. It's so great for the culture of the school. In my current school, I asked a student to run down the hall to give something to the principal, and she didn't know who the principal was. She had been at the school for over a year! 😪
