Debbie, layoffs suck but I hope you never forget that you are *incredible.* Whoever snaps you up will be so fortunate and the folks that let you get away are looking pretty goddamn silly

Thanks Zach for the lovey words. It had nothing to do with my team. They are gutted. Was just a cost centre thing cause of where I live versus who I report to.

So sorry to hear this, you have been a big inspiration for me and it is sad to see you how one can just end up in the wrong column of a spreadsheet 😔

I'm one of the many thousands of playwright users who are thankful for your work, yours and your team. It baffles me that Microsoft can't value you enough to keep you given that success. Those greedy corps treat ppl like dirt. Really sorry about that and I hope that you bounce back quickly.

Wow Debbie I’m so sorry. You’re so so great at what you do and your passion shows up in your work I’m excited for the team you land on next. Until then, sending hugs to you and the family 🧡🧡

Thanks for sharing! This post really resonated with me 💙 Autumn of 2024, my employer MongoDB decided to sunset the project I was working on and a lot of my colleagues got laid off. Although I got to stick around (on a different team), I had the same experience of grief as I felt yanked off my team.

I'm not saying this to take away from your experience - I'm really grateful tmI wasn't let go, but although it's been the best place I've ever worked at, I ultimately decided to leave and I'll be starting in a new role, at the Developer Experience team at ElevenLabs, in January.

Really sorry to hear this ❤️ I hope you find your next role quickly and you’re still able to enjoy the holiday season

Very sad to hear you lost your dream job. It’s a loss for you but also for the Playwright community. we’d like to think that the community can thrive on its own but it’s the passion of its community leaders that props it up. You were a voice in the Vue community that I missed as well. Good luck!

It's tough, indeed. I'm sure you'll find some nice new opportunity soon, it should be a no-brainer for any company hiring. Nice write-up an I wholeheartedly agree with the “hell yes”-part. Working at Microsoft is a unique experience.

Very sorry Debbie, thanks for all the energy you poured for the Playwright community and all the other communities you interacted with on these years. The best for what's next!
