Holy shit, I think I remember that bit of drama from back then. Still such an amazing idea. Surprised I haven't seen an indie dev use this as inspiration.

I FREQUENTLY refer to this as a Zelda concept I wish actually existed. Whether literally this or something very near it.

I was about to have a knee jerk reaction of Zelda wielding the Master Sword, but then I had the thought "wait, why couldn't she?" So now my mind is running through the implications, but I'll spare you my ramblings about sword techniques, magical mastery, and Ganondorf.

When the new game starring Zelda came out this was exactly what came to mind and I was actually a little disappointed because I've wanted this game bad.

I remember these! I've been a huge zelda fan since I was a small kid, and I was mystified that some people couldn't see how brilliant this idea was (and still is)

As a life long LoZ fan (by which I mean it was the second game I ever got for my NES in the 80s) I would have played the shit out of this game. Every aspect of this sounds amazing.

This is basically what I was hoping Echoes of Wisdom would be. The trailer was...a letdown. :x Also definitely haven't seen and used a mod to make Zelda the protagonist of BotW. It was assuredly not awesome.

This is funny not only because I remember thinking this looked sick, but because it feels like Nintendo looked over your shoulder and copied your notes a bit for BotW and TotK. If not in premise, certainly in aesthetic and some mechanics (like the weapon switching).
