In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

The art director of the New Yorker being an "AI whisperer" should be a red flag for all artists who might work for the New Yorker going forward. The Spiegelman thing is a whole other bummer.

if you ever happen to see someone post a joke you don't understand or discuss a subject you aren't familiar with, you are well within your right to complain, and perhaps even scold them if necessary. you are their customer and you have rights

Every once in a while a batch of podcast episodes will download without any ads and I wish I knew how to make it happen on purpose. Access to that kind of sense of relief on demand might be too powerful for me though...

“You can just start your own studio!” Brother I do not WANT to own a business. I don’t want to be anybody’s boss. I want to write, which is the thing i’m good at!!!

I have no reason to be posting about the Ethan Klein stuff except that this pun burrowed into my mind. So now I like them both even less for making me do it. 😔

Talk about a "h3 said/sh3 said" situation

As someone who has worked retail, "flexible shifts" means "we will do anything we can to avoid having full time employees" and usually also "there will not be enough hours for you to support yourself"

Kim Kelly@kimkelly.bsky.social

just stumbled across a nightmarish new app that’s trying to gig-ify retail jobs by offering up “flexible” shifts at understaffed stores to a “vetted pool of retail associates.” these tech ghouls keep chipping away at the few remaining broadly accessible jobs. soon there will be nothing left.

There's this line of GenAI defense I see from math-doers that goes like, "Yeah, I use AI, it makes my work faster. It's riddled with errors, but I use my decades of experience doing the work manually to spot and correct those errors," and I hope those guys can think two generations into the future.

I still think AI systems should be paying me 150k per copyright violation. People keep asking me 'what laws do we need for AI?' and I keep saying 'enforce the fucking ones we already have!' There are copyright laws that should be being enforced right now that just... aren't. B/c it's billionaires.

some folks reported not being able to use certain adult-focused platforms (like onlyfans and fansly) — there was an internal miscommunication and these were accidentally added to the list of disallowed domains. this is now fixed! but you may need to refresh your app to get the update. 💙

two people at my event last night couldn't wait in line to get their books signed so they went up to my DAD and asked HIM to sign their books so if you ever find a copy with "ALEX (FATHER)" written with palpable discomfort on the title page......that's why 😂

So, kinda good news. But it also speaks to multiple ongoing issues with bsky 1) It's bad to have no head of comms, presumably due to intentionally going around your comms department 2) It's bad to have a head of T&S nobody can T with their S 3) It's bad to release things missing important features

Hey, I worked on this feature. Extra time is needed for us to cook on handling adult sites. I know on its face it looks as you described, so I get it. But wanted to provide a bit of context.

Climate disaster keeps disastering: Satellite monitoring has detected massive plumes of methane pouring from Chevron's Gorgon LNG plant in Western Australia. (This is the one connected to the world’s biggest carbon capture and storage project WHIICH IS ALSO FAILING) www.abc.net.au/news/2026-10...

Do you think if Mr Freeze managed to cure his wife before being sent to Arkham they'd allow them congelée visits?

This one goes out to, I guess, all the fans of both Batman and bilingual puns out there. If nobody else has got you, I do.

Further note: None of this prohibits you from manually adding them via editing your profile directly via a site like pdsls, but this isn't a good solution for non-technical users. Bluesky should not be adding these restrictions, except for stuff like malware and scams. Adult creators should be fine!

Chris reposted

Just an FYI on the bluesky profile links thing: They started just blocking onlyfans and fansly, then expanded to cover a bunch of link shorteners explicitly because adult content is linked to through them. Fuck you @bsky.app . Proof: github.com/bluesky-soci...

I wrote this as a parody of the kind of thing I saw some slopware "developers" saying and I wish I could say this was a wild exaggeration, but the amount of games in my inbox where the AI disclosure was a god damn manifesto... They're so angry that people don't want to play games they didn't make.

Casey S. Pumpkins 🎃@caseyexplosion.bsky.social

Lately I've noticed the AI generated slopware being sent to me has gone from special pleading about how they're just small little devs to full on Sephiroth posting in the AI Generated Content Disclosure sections, and it's an incredible evolution in slopware purveyors. (The below is just an example)
