The vast majority of people I have met in this industry are in the liberal to leftist spectrum. It's a handful of VCs & billionaire executives (and even a lot of the less controversial tech billionaires are pretty lib) that set the perception :/

A penitent who is loud @loudpenitent.bsky.social

Still kinda annoyed about the "techlash" as a person who works in tech and who observes that tech is way more left leaning & reliable Dem voters than many of the industries the left has declared it's ok to idolize.

The median tech industry employee is left of the US center. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that even the median white cis het male tech worker is left of the US center.

Of the one I’ve known, I’d be surprised if 20% were republicans And to be fair you could get that entirely by knowing it’s a well educated, almost entirely urban group that disproportionately lives in California and other blue states

Like Reid Hoffman and Elon Musk feud over politics a lot but it just doesn't make waves bsky.app/profile/ens0...

Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn just gave a PAC $10M to try to get James Talarico elected. Eric Schmidt (big Google guy) and Reed Hastings (Netflix co-founder) are constantly bankrolling Democrats. But they don't generate the eye-grabbing headlines of the Musks and Altmans of the world.

Don't trust anyone at either end of the spectrum because horseshoe theory is real and they'll cross over without going through the middle

Also even Altmans open secret with the exception of the major donation is just progressive. It is his coboard who is a actual trumpstan.

Like i kinda find something ironic about the fact that the biggest enemies of the democratic party right now are all queer people: Theil, Altman and Trump ;P

A fair question is whether that predilection is coincident, a consequence of, or casual to those dudes success in accumulating dosh. They clearly think they earned and deserve it.
