If you're in government watching criminal-led blackshirt thugs in balaclavas wage war on the RNLI and you're hedging your bets because you're not sure who the majority of the country will side with, why do you even want to be in government? Why would you WANT to lead people you think so little of?

I was called a black bas***d this morning. Work van, broad daylight, just kept driving away. My father died in 85 due to the toll of racism on his health. All this to say that if you can't stand up for the totality of your population then I view you as complicit in whatever atrocities occur. Ban 'X'

I'm so sorry, for your loss and for your experience. I, and most people are decent . My late mum who was a teacher, we're talking early 80s, said that when her pupils drew people they never coloured in their drawings because they didn't see colour in people's skin. I hope that helps.

Thank you. My best friend and my wife are both white, so I know that it definitely isn't as simple as saying it's a white thing. It's true to say that racism is learned behaviour not inate. Sadly, people have/are being groomed by very rich and powerful people to do their bidding.

I think Brexit and the rw media platforming Farage has allowed the racists to crawl out from under their rocks which they have the intelligence of. Take care and remember you're better than them x.

Thank you for your kind words. Honestly I'd cause a scene if they weren't always driving away. I walk everywhere and it's not the first time its happened. They are cowards. Brexit changed everything. Weak leadership, complicit media and a strained judicial system compound the problem.

I long for the day that these people are put back in their box, afraid once again to voice their true feelings for fear of social and legal repercussions. Let’s face it, we all knew that it never really went away. There’s too much stupid out for racism and the rest to have truly gone away.

They aren't leading. When was the last time we had actual leaders in a UK government? Blair and Brown? You may not have agreed with them (particularly Blair) but they did what *they* thought was right for the country based on the situation at the time, and told us why. We need that leadership now.

Extremist networks run on a two-tier financial machine: elite dark money shielded by Donor-Advised Funds at the top, and alt-fintech or crypto mixers at the bottom. Dismantling this hate pipeline requires closing legal loopholes, not just tracing wallets

you've got it all wrong, they were not 'blackshirt thugs in balaclavas', merely concerned citizens expressing unease whilst fearing retribution. Just like those protestors at Portsmouth hotel were merely concerned about Pakistan team sleeping arrangements bsky.app/profile/oldt...

Just The Spectator channeling the Reform/Restore line that they're hiding their faces because they fear retribution from the establishment. Next up, why do criminals routinely wear masks and hoodies?

One does wonder why entry to Westminster renders one unable to discern a difference between protest (message to public at large) and intimidation (direct threats to specific groups and individuals).

I thought for a while starmer was a poor prime minister but not every problem with this labour government was down to him. Some of the problems with this government were a more general labour party problem. One problem was a fear of standing up for what they believe in.

Governments make the laws and the Police should implement them. We have laws which mean grandmothers and clergy can be arrested for holding a sign outside a court or wearing a keffiyeh in support of Palestinians. The Home Secretary can tell Chief Constables to arrest the racist scum as well.

Maybe they're trying not to fall into the trap being laid for them. If all the balaclava twerps were challenged and it kicked off...no space in prison so what then? Chaos is what they want. I don't know.. might be wrong but...

It is like 'legitimate concerns over small boats ' to placate people who have no legitimate concern at all but have convinced themselves the small boats are the root of all evil. Why pander to it? You want this sort of person to back you?

I mean also Stupid. Legal migration is 25 times the size of small boats. If you argument is 'we are full' or 'legitimate concerns regarding the culture and balance of ethnicity of the country' an increase in population that is an away crowd at Southampton FC is not really a big issue ...

There is a growing cancer in the UK which, if left unchecked, will become terminal Groups calling themselves 'Patriots' springing up everywhere on social media Facebook is becoming flooded with them Each one claiming that they are forming non violent protest groups to protect the British way of life

"Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel." (Samuel Johnson) These people aren't patriots, they are a racist neofascist mob just like Mosley and his Blackshirts in the 1930s. If the government continues to sit on its hands we will be the next democracy to fall to the far right authoritarians.

The government seems like it doesn't want to do anything It's as if they want Reform to win the next election so that the country descends into chaos and then the established parties can then say "look what happened, we told you so" A bit like Brexit but a lot worse
