Not the main point here obviously, but I'm fairly certain the Titanic was actually reasonably easy to turn around overnight right up until it hit the iceberg, at which point turning it ceased to be helpful or relevant.

JD Vance on the economy: "You don't turn the Titanic around overnight"

Having briefly steered a similar ship very close to the same size, I can say that full U-turn takes only a few minutes. One can not only turn it around overnight, but also load it up with passengers, sail a hundred nautical miles, drop those passengers off and turn around *again*, for a return trip.

All that said, credit where credit is due: Standing at the helm of a sinking Titanic impotently spinning its wheel left and right while petulantly whining at the panicking crew for not saluting you is a perfect metaphor for the Trump administration's current Iran policy.

Turning is what sunk the Titanic. By turning to avoid the iceberg, it ripped a hole in 4 watertight compartments. Had it not turned, it would have ruptured 1 or 2 and not sunk.
