anyway I’m going out to protest this weekend because we haven’t been beaten yet, and I suggest you do the same it’ll make you feel better than reading an endless stream of posts about how we’re all doomed and we might as well offer ourselves up to be processed into slurry for the MAGA AI mines now

Last time we went out locally, we were the only ones there for more than an hour. When folks did start showing up, a number didn’t have signs so this afternoon I spent some time screenprinting spares to share 14/6. We used to be so good at protesting around here that England made cartoons about it!

going out protesting is SO good for the soul. link arms with like-mindeds, laugh at the handmade signs, sing with everyone, shout at the idiots - and hopefully manage to avoid the national guard

obviously yes some of us can’t protest for various reasons, but I bet there’s still stuff you can do to help your community that isn’t “public emotional breakdowns on Bluesky”

No Kings, Baltimore Pride, & the Charles St. Promenade (An annual festival of sorts where a good chunk of one of Baltimore’s main thoroughfares in Midtown, the artsy/bougie Station North & Mount Vernon neighborhoods, & Downtown, gets closed off to automotive traffic in favor of food/culture, etc)

I live in a very small town in the middle of nowhere, honestly wish I was closer to a protest. I'll have to keep being said scrolling the timeline and donating to bail funds

I need these big protests to happen more often, because more than a couple of weeks between them increases my despair level into the red zone. There have been some smaller actions I've attended and those help, but in general it's too much empty time filling with worry.

I feel seen. That said, jes' gonna say that you can regard most of the Dem Party as a bunch of toothless senescent hacks yet not be a doomer. B/c most of the Dem Party so-called "leadership" are toothless senescent hacks. if that's all it takes to conclude that "we're doomed", then we're doomed.

Seriously. Complaining on BlueSky is one thing, but people’s energy is so much better served getting out there. Help canvas, register voters, spread the word on the reconciliation package. Literally anything. And yes, I practice what I preach

me too. I also think it's important to show solidarity with the immigrants being targeted. If we stand by while they are kidnapped and brutalized, we're as bad as Trump and his ghouls. Hoping that a vetted legal aid network emerges to help raise donations for lawyers for those grabbed up by ICE

That sounds paranoid to me, but thanks for the warning. I’m a fifty something blonde white woman. I’ve been privileged my whole life, so maybe I’m a fool. But I won’t let these fuckers cow me. They can try to put me in jail, we’ll see how that goes.
