Once an independent who now firmly votes only Democrat in light of the dumpster fire that the GOP has become. Never again.

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait. My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

The facts are complicated, but here’s a summary of what appears to have happened based on the filings and today’s hearing:

Anna Bower@annabower.bsky.social

NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court. Defense counsel argued that’s a complete bar to further prosecution

More good advice from @jesscraven101.bsky.social here. The whole rep office uses the same call tracking system, and junior staff or interns in the district offices can take down your input too. Just be sure they know you’re a constituent, ask who you’re talking to, and (politely) request a response.

Hell YES! Y’all are flooding the Capitol Switchboard so hard it’s overwhelmed—this is people power in action! 💥 Here’s what to do next: Call your reps’ district offices instead. It’s easy—just Google their name + “district office number.” Pass it on. Keep that pressure blazing. #VoteHellNo

If so, it is time to start crafting some cool-ass laws. What a time to be a state legislator or an AG in a blue state. The Supreme Court just said you no longer have a boss. It's the last day of school, Democratic state majorities and AGs! Time to abuse some power.

Your daily reminder that, no matter how much they try to lie about them, Republicans’ medicaid cuts in their budget bill will absolutely cause hospitals to close and people to lose insurance and die.

Mitch McConnell has a net worth of up to $52 million, and has had high quality government-financed healthcare for decades. Losing your healthcare, losing your loved ones, losing your life, isn’t something people should be told “get over it.”

Yes, clowns like this in media are absolutely deserving of your ridicule. Imagine actually predicting that Trump may be a “pacifist” president. In what universe? By what measure? How are people this delusional writing for a media audience?

Chris Tomlinson@cltomlinson.bsky.social

Donald Trump may be the first pacifist president since Jimmy Carter. Four months into his second term, Trump has exhibited, if not professed, a peacenik doctrine in foreign affairs. www.houstonchronicle.com/business/col...

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles

Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.

🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands. Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵

It constantly blows my mind that we have elected someone so gobsmackingly uncomprehending of the gravity and responsibility of his office that he does not grasp how insanely dangerous it is to fire off comments like this on a whim.

Simon Rosenberg@simonwdc.bsky.social

First bit of polling after Trump's escalation in Los Angeles, and it is very bad for him. Here are the last three YouGov polls of Trump's job approval: 45%-49% (-4) - June 2 45%-55% (-10) - June 6 40%-53% (-13) - June 10

Spread the word. Medicaid cuts are already deeply unpopular — Medicare cuts on top hits even harder.

Catherine Rampell@crampell.bsky.social

turns out the GOP budget bill adds so much to deficits that it will automatically trigger cuts to Medicare (not just Medicaid). Older voters unlikely to be happy about this when word gets out democrats-budget.house.gov/news/press-r...

Share pictures from the protests today, and amplify them when others share. The public hates what the GOP is doing to this country--and it's critical for everyone to know that people are fighting back.
