The wildest one of these I got was a three PDF "press release" rollout from someone who said his ChatGPT sometimes got something wrong and that OpenAI didn't respond to his support ticket and fashioned himself as a kind of big tech whistleblower

They don't have the guys. In transphobia courts of their own making, staffed by the most macho & violent guys they can muster, they still don't have the guys. If they cannot enforce this, here, now, they cannot hope to ever stop us from living well, speaking out, & standing together.

Imagine you call in Trump to campaign as a last ditch effort and he tells everybody you’re going to lose and starts talking about hot men’s asses instead

Trump on Roy Cooper: "He's going to become your senator and it's crazy" RIP Michael Whatley

Last year a friend of mine was caught up in a romance scam and Claude helped talk her out of it when she wouldn’t listen to anyone else

There's growing experimental evidence¹˒²˒³˒⁴ that LLMs are unusually good at talking people out of entrenched false beliefs and conspiracy theories. ¹ pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39264999/ ² pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41179846/ ³ sciety.org/articles/act... ⁴ connecticut.adl.org/resources/re...

Contribution to the romance novel discourse: I was recently the only guy at a bookstore party for the movie premiere of The Love Hypothesis, based on Ali Hazelwood’s book of the same name, about a grad student who falls in love with the scary professor. The book originally began as a Reylo ship.

It was fun. The book is good and the movie was different but also good. We had good conversations and laughed and swooned. I don’t care what people who don’t read/write romance have to say about the genre. It’s no coincidence that people think it’s slop & that it’s read/written mostly by women.

I’m always the only guy at the romance book club; because of that I have cool new friends and acquaintances who are women. I bond with women who read romance because I’m not a pretentious ass. I read dense, heavy nonfiction all day for work and I like to read about love when I get home.

As a bearded American it is a strange honor to be placed on a list among friends

Hegseth: "It's worth saying again so the fake news understands it. We are no longer the woke department or the weak department. Simple translation of that -- no fatties no trannies no beardos no weirdos no wimps no radicals. Just warriors."

“Hm this offer seems too good to be true” The LLM cross referenced a half dozen housing websites and a massive number of “how to tell if this is a scammer” websites and conclusively determine that the offer was in fact a scam

the love hypothesis movie was good, definitely an adaptation, strange choices made in some parts. one of the charms of the book is that it depicts academics in a realistic way (no surprises, it's written by an academic) as opposed to the Big Bang Theory version; movie doesn't do that quite as well.

extremely difficult to find divorce content for men that isn’t “gym up, hit the lawyer”. listening to Conscious Uncoupling and theres an extended anecdote in chapter two about a lady that rips a dude’s balls off

Replying to @rincewind.run

Minor issue on the whole, but I like his valuing of life based on whether it is "economically productive," measured by contribution to GDP. Measured directly, Paul Erdős's "economic productivity" was basically negative as he crashed on people's couches doing meth. But his true value is enormous.

Trump: "Please right your right hand. I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States. That loves us so much he can't even breath. That I will go out with my family, my friends, I'll do it any way - I don't care if I'm registered or not, I'm going to try to cheat like hell..."

New Netflix documentary about 9/11 doesn’t mention Trump I’s increase of drone strikes compared to Obama (and explicitly calls Obama the drone strike president) and doesn’t mention Trump’s involvement in the Afghanistan withdrawal (solely credits Biden with it) btw

looking at apartments and filtering by pet friendliness because i have a gigantic dog (>120lbs) and found a place that looks neat their pet policy is "service animals only" oh thank you, that's helpful. I mean, it would be illegal for you to disallow service animals.

With LLMs I can tell the computer to get me into a class at my gym and it will design a program to hack the gyms software system and kick everyone off the waitlist With NFTs I can…hmm….maybe in another five years someone will come up with an application that isn’t literally worthless

Some friends are teaching their baby ASL as an early bridge to speech and they made the mistake of teaching her “want” as a concept. Now she wanders around the house signing “want” all the time as an expression of unfocused desire. They fucked up and made the baby invent the opposite of Buddhism.

“No, we stole that term from you Black folk. And now it’s ours, because we use it. We use it to mean that the concerns and perspectives of you Black folk are annoying or wrong or dangerous, as a way of ignoring and dismissing those concerns and perspectives. Like I’m doing now—does that make sense?”

I was in one of these recently and it was no big deal. I'm still a closed loop individual of individual sapience. There's definitely no humming of the collective mycelium spirit in the back of my mind. Don't worry about these

i make no secret about the fact that i like LLMs; i think they have some very powerful use cases. insisting otherwise is an impossible position to defend. but this kind of nonsense is the reason why so many haters exist. it is a terrible and inane application of the technology

If the message from some of you here is "it's okay to be Stalinists because our opponents are Nazis," be ready for the possibility that - given that choice - people will choose Nazis.
