The situation echoes a similar controversy involving Stephen Colbert’s Late Show, where CBS refused to air Talarico’s interview over fears of violating the FCC’s “equal time” mandate.

Trump’s FCC ‘Threatened’ Jimmy Kimmel’s TV Show Over Interview With Democratic Senate Nominee James Talarico, Interview Will Only Air on YouTube newsvideoclip.com/trumps-fcc-t... More fascist censorship from Trump
Brendan Carr: Now do Fox News. Sure, you're going to say that the scarcity principle was never updated to include cable in FCC regulation. Why not? Better, why hasn't regulation been updated to exempt OTA networks when their content is competing in streaming spaces?
In case anyone missed it because you were too busy watching "Trump-a-Pa-Looza", Rosie O'Donell is now QB for the Pats. www.nfl.com/news/patriot...
I am disgusted that the FCC is interfering with FREE SPEECH! But Jimmy Kimmel is SMART & he will be interviewing James Talarico on YouTube instead!!! Talarico is so much better than that CRIMINAL Ken Paxton! It was his own Republican employees who turned Paxton in to be impeached! Next time Convict!
Kimmel said “out of consideration” for ABC’s local affiliates in Texas “who would have to deal with this nonsense,” his interview with Talarico will not air on TV and be posted on his official YouTube channel instead. Tonight, folks. www.youtube.com/@JimmyKimmel...
This backfired last time. www.forbes.com/sites/siladi...
FCC regulated radio is full of hate, racism, incitement of violence for 30 years. FCC should be shutting down these corp owned stations and not the sources that report the truth like Kimmel, Colbert! "They" call it "conservative talk radio" but it's nothing but lies, hate, racism! tiny.cc/g09a101
Just watched it on youtube.com James Talarico is the real deal. Recommend watching.
@jimmykimmel.com please interview every Democrat running for the Senate and post ‘em. Fk the fcc.
They don't have to do an interview with Paxton unless he requests it. But it would be great PR to offer it to him. www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/...
This has nothing to do with the Fairness Doctrine, which was abolished in 1987. This is about the equal time rule, a law enacted by Congress, that still exists and applies only to political candidates. Until Carr came along, the FCC included talk shows in the exemption for "bona fide news interview"
That's what he is trying to do - change that exemption so that talk shows are no longer exempt from the rule. www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/...
