Why is economic sentiment so low when GDP growth is positive? There’s no reasonable explanation, the only possible conclusion is that people are all just doing a mass hysteria (/s)

it's also, Companies know they can price gouge under a Republican administration, and get away with it. And once prices go up, even if they go down, it's never to what they were before.

TBF, this stuff *should* be expensive, because its terrible for the planet. The theory is that people just calmly respond to incentives and adapt by driving less and eating less red meat.

TB even more F, the average person can't necessarily divest from these things. I'll give you red meat, but fuel? I'd love to live in a place that doesn't require a car but, alas, that's not the reality. Working is an absolute necessity for most, driving less is simply not possible *unless*

you're talking about maintaining survival driving and decreasing the rest. In which case you're saying that leisure is only for people with money and, well, that's a bit of a bummer. Because enjoyment shouldn't only be for the wealthy, right?

Based on your work, I'd guess you make a comfortable living. I'd guess that min wage and what it can or can't buy doesn't much matter to you, bc you are making orders of magnitude more. It's easy for you to say we should calmly respond by using less when you don't have to make that choice yourself.

should be expensive because of Pigovian taxes whose revenues go into funding less harmful alternatives, like cheaper EVs, bike lanes, public transit, etc.

Is there such as thing as GDP _exclusive_ of unearned of very wealthy etc. Is real economy most reflected in figures including economic 'activity' of the 1% (or 5 or 10)? I don't pretend to be economist but since I learned 'productivity' includes mouse clicks of traders I've lost faith in figures.

Fed is using cherry picked and hedonically massaged inflation numbers to print fake, lower-than-real inflation numbers which directly translates into fake higher-than-real GDP numbers. Been going on for decades...and it sucks.
