We all get obsessed with working until the job’s done, but π takes it too far. If π were a teacher today and saw a student answer ‘What is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter?’ with 3.14, π would probably say, ‘Let me finish what you started.

I split one of them with two of the seniors i know in my building. Next i will attempting raisin pies for the first time. Maybe in a couple weeks. I also want to try making butter tarts. I only wish i had the recipe my mother used, hers were the bomb. Sadly she is no longer with us so i can't get it

Yes, while too many are acting irrationally we should try to return to some sanity and counter the growing ignorance and anti-science sentiment that’s harming/killing our brothers/sisters. Empathy for all but the fascist leaders.

Yeah human numbering schemes are challenged by the natural world but we could better (approximately) square the circle if we just agreed to celebrate solstice and/or equinox as our pi days - counting in radians around our orbit to a celestial reference

A more rational choice, given our near circular planetary orbit would be to celebrate Pi day at solstice and 1/2 and 3/4 Pi days on/around equinox. Mostly, I’m regretting not eating any pie today after seeing all the photos of desserts I’d like to consume with some ice cream

Just a bit of historical trivia that shows politicians in 1897 were just as stupid as #Trump and #DOGE. The Indiana legislature tried to make a law that made pi 3.2 rather than 3.14... . The bill was thrown out on the grounds the Assembly lacked the power to redefine mathematical truth. #piDay
