Nobody talks about the best reason for us to tax billionaires: purely so they have less money. That alone is an impactful project in the public interest. Just setting it on fire would save people's lives and reform governments by itself.
I stg, there has to be a memo circulating around transphobes to bring up the election and mention enjoying the camps at the first opportunity. Do this many people claiming to respect the dems' legacy of civil rights just coincidentally have that "zinger" ready to go with a hair-trigger?

fascism is mot a reaction—it's an active movement that wants to hit the family in public, that thinks that's good, & will burn down the world over that

Every time voting for dems is framed as opposing fascism (yeah, I guess!), I'm reminded of the Cop City and Columbia protests. Everybody wants a ride on the big APC, and nobody wants to put it away.
My take on transphobic dems is that nobody would vote for someone who treated their rights and well-being as a liability and demanding somebody else do that implies you think they're subservient to your own interests. Vote how you want, but talk to other people with some humility.
I love how in 70/early 80s horror when they're like, "The devil waited for a cynical time, when society would fall apart and morals fall by the wayside." And I'm like, yeah (takes a drink), it's never getting worse for society than the 70s.
Bezos is talking about AI productivity leading to single-earner households and short work weeks, but he can just do all that right now if he really wanted to. What does he need to be more efficient at this point? Just double a bunch of people's pay right now! Literally why not?
The pundit class's notion of "free speech" is predicated on a division of humanity into those who *participate* in debates and those who are the *topic* of debate, where treating one of the former as if they were one of the latter is seen as the direst of all threats to "free speech".
Patiently waiting for the op-ed saying the right-wing base should reach out to socialists they disagree with to find common ground and heal a divided nation. I'm sure that's coming any week now.
There should be a support group for Kyle Gordon coming for your favorite genre and nailing it to the wall. Dude finally did a goth song and cooked so hard.
I remember when older people used to complain about young people saying "like" and "um" to fill space in sentences. That's roughly how I feel about the word "slop" these days.
I have no expertise on trans people, but if a democratic candidate started fear mongering or equivocating on immigrants, not only would I stay home, my mom would remember their exact words for about a decade. If somebody told me to be an adult and suck it up, I would know they're racist.
I'm currently playing Palworld and anticipating Dune Awakening next week, in the exact same genre. Feels unwise, somehow. Like, I just did base building and crafting. And yet...

Why do people act like they need to qualify supporting Macklemore's politics by making it clear they don't think he's cool or like his music? It's okay. Nobody's asking you that.
Maybe it's just my own algorithm, but is everybody on YouTube doing a health scare now? Apparently, everything on Earth will either add or subtract 30 years from my life. If I wrap a falafel in salami, does it balance out to a net zero?
I will reiterate, do not buy GTA six do not support rockstar in any other way, fight for the rights of your local game developers #gamedev#workersrights

It is time... for a rough denim Kirby. A Kirby you can strike a match on. Only a Kirby that can grate cheese is tough enough to brave this fallen world. #blutoid
I played that Final Fantasy Resonance demo and It's exactly what I wanted it to be. It's like Octopath, but the ghosts work almost like job classes and it has a break system. Can't wait to play the rest of it. #blutoid
Note on pieces like these, not only is there no suggestion that Republicans should distance themselves from him, there's no hint that there's a reason to. No recap of his CSAM machine. No inflammatory racist quotes. No mention of the DOGE death toll. No history of his fabulist quotes.
I just saw Coyote vs Acme and it was phenomenal. Can't recommend it enough if the premise interests you at all. It's really funny and creative and sweet. It's amazing there needed to be a fan campaign to get it released. #blutoid
It's kind of funny how so many of us are bracing for GTA 6 impact like the Enterprise is about be rammed or something. Like, we're all about to be tossed from our chairs by explosions that fill the room with smoke. But I think it's going to be okay. We'll survive the coming storm. #blutoid
The evolution of computer mice is funny. The newest mouse is usually ultra-light, has speed-holes now, and sensitive enough to put your pointer on the literal moon. Meanwhile, I want a mouse that's large, heavy, and slow, because I have adult hands and my monitor is not a 56'' TV.
I agree that the tech backlash has a lot to do with the fact that Silicon Valley has pretty much given up on giving us cool things - and has trained us to assume that tech products that *seem* cool are probably secretly evil.
I wrote about this last year:
Listen, if you’re not happy single, you won’t be happy in a relationship either, happiness comes from picking a new hobby and then buying all the things to start that hobby then finding the perfect little storage container for those things and then putting that storage container in the spare room
I need journalists to start asking both parties what policies/actions are expected to produce "affordability". B/c it seems to just be a free pass to say the word affordability.
Maybe hot take: It's funny to see so many people vindicating Kingdom Hearts, years after organized collections have been made available, as if the critics were crazy. No, the mismanagement was the whole problem. The collections are why you can claim it's easy to follow.
POWER TRIP: ICE’s new electric shock gloves are designed to overpower subjects through intense pain. But it turns out there is a simple way to stop them working. Read the full story on @wired.comwww.wired.com/story/the-pa...
The "centrist" think tank Third Way is looking to pay someone between $140,000 and $150,000 to spend their days trying to dig up dirt on DSA members. They're trying to sell this gig as "anti-extremism" work, which I find completely disgusting.
Good morning Bluesky ☀️
My grandad told me he saw the Titanic - from the outset he warned all the people that the ship would sink, but nobody listened to him.
He knew he was right and didn't give up. He warned them again & again, until eventually they kicked him out of the cinema.
I just joined DSA, b/c I'm mad about politics quite a lot for someone putting $0 into doing anything about it. So now I have a little skin in the game. I like their product and think they should have some walking around money.
