Everybody is looking forward to the next No Kings Day in the spring. The official date will be announced once we land this with the full No Kings coalition, but trust us that it’s coming. And we can’t wait, either. ❌👑

It will need much more than another nation wide day of action. And then another one a few months later. It will need a social movement with millions participating in it every minute they can spare. If you want to see how people managed to accomplish a real change,

... look at Ukraine's Maidan in 2013/14, for example. Look at the Georgian Protests that are going on for over a year now, every day, even though they haven't reached their goal yet. I hope the next No Kings Day gets huge, of course, but if everybody just goes home afterwards and continues ...

Maybe Indivisible isn’t the group to lead this, but *somebody* needs to start getting together larger protest groups to get out in the streets of major cities much more often. I’m talking about WEEKLY if not DAILY protests! 1/3

These protests can be at night when a lot of people are off work, that’s how they do it in countries like Japan, South Korea, and even Bulgaria, which recently forced out of power their corrupt leaders. Protests need to become a constant unavoidable thing, something that clogs up the machine. 2/3

We’ve seen this successfully done in other countries around the world over the last few years, both in democracy, and in countries slipping away from democracy, such as Israel. A lot of people around the world don’t understand why Americans are only having a big protest once in a blue moon.

Yeah I can't wait for the next event, though communication issues are hampering action and the lack of frequency of big action is a problem too. Might need to boost actions to once every two or three months now that the epstein scandal has weakened the regime.

We need way more than five or six million participants. Twenty or thirty five or six might be adequate. And I am not saying we should break the law in any way, but we need to do something so that people take notice and we are not just a two minute mention on the news.

lol no this is the EXACT reason why the last protest did nothing. When you make it convenient for yourselves, you're not disrupting anything, as I said in another post, you might as well send an email.

I spoke at three NK events last time, as well as the original. Gathering is not enough. If the next No Kings isn’t married with specific, non-negotiable, achievable demands along with follow-on actions and tactics for each resistance org, the NK movement will lose all steam and turn into a stunt.

Each of Ghandi’s Satyagrahas, the Civil Rights movement under SNCC and SCLC, the Chicano movements under Dolores Huerta, Cesar Chavez and the UFW, the Women’s Suffrage movements are a few which jump out. Each had specific goals to achieve, to focus the people’s power. Countless others. It CAN work.

If you feel that way, the best remedy is probably to not waste your time trying to change their tactics, and instead organizing a group that is willing to take a different approach. We’re going to need multiple grass roots efforts that may coordinate at times but are not completely aligned.

I think it might be cool for each state to pick a day and have state-specific protests on those days. No state would have the same day so that each one has time in the spotlight, with news coverage and social media. Like the 50-state strategy we need.

We also have a weekly protest Mondays from 12-1pm outside of the Roanoke office of Congressman Ben Cline VA 06). He has refused to offer a Town Hall, so folks have been protesting for months and plan to do so until he is unseated in November 2026 (hopefully by Beth Macy!). Big actions take planning!

Noting impatience from many commenters, who may not know Indivisible has FOR YEARS been doing tons of important activist work besides organizing demonstrations. If you want more big protests, you need to donate and help organize.

I hope the date gives us time in February to have We Love Democracy tables at the colleges where we can promote the events. Check with your community colleges to see if they will give you a free table.

Just as it seemed to be having an effect it feels like the ball got dropped. If we were going to take a hiatus there should have been something to take its place. Anything ever happen with project mail storm?

Hillarious! I mean theres nothing urgent going on, i guess everybody can relax and chill for a couple more months, what could go wrong? I can not understand how you morons arent protesting every single fucking day... Maybe shit isnt so bad after all, and americans are just exaggerating.

IMHO we can’t continue to wait. We need a National Strike, Boycotts, and Protests happening simultaneously. We need someone (Indivisible?) to lead this movement to shut this 💩 show down. Waiting til spring may be too late.

How many times do you need to protest before you understand that the government is taking your bluff. They know you won't do anything so they ignore you. Change that.

The fact that our citizenry is just sitting around waiting for the weather to be more pleasant to once again have mass protests speaks volumes about how blind we are to the perilous situation we are in. Millions should be in the streets daily until this corrupt regime is removed and imprisoned.

Fortunately, there are people who understand what’s at stake, who are out there protesting and disrupting ice operations even in freezing temperatures. Kudos to all of those brave resilient folks, but we need to pump up those rookie numbers real fucking quick! We need millions out there regularly.

In the meantime, there are weekly protests to attend with your local Indivisible coalition. These are meant to push local businesses and governments. And they DO make change happen.

Please consider strengthening the name to No Dictators Day, or No Despots . (The word 'kings' no longer evokes tyrannical power like it did in 1776. Indeed, it's now disney-fied & almost cuddly.) Slogan can be - No Kings No Dictators No Traitors or - No Kings No Dictators No Predators

To everyone saying, "We have to do it every month! Every week!!" It takes hundreds of hours of work to coordinate a simultaneous nationwide protest in a country with 348M people across 2.26B acres Nothing stopping us from organizing local and state-level protests every week - and many people are 🐸

But it shouldn’t be such a logistical monster. The fact is it’s large protests that have a major effect in the media and political spheres because they can’t ignore the numbers and we NEED that presence and pressure on a monthly basis instead of one off assemblies as everything gets worse.

"It shouldn't be" I wish that were true 🫤 But there's a lot involved in organizing millions of people A lot has to happen in the background, from choosing the date (there's a lot to debate across multiple organizations) to getting permits to shut down streets and organizing safety stewards

The problem is indivisible came out of the dem party which is completely inept these days. There's going to be a big left-wing party - call it what you will. Just as Trump could get a lot of cult members, a truly peoples movement that shows some results even if it's on the left can also get traction

If you want more protests, get involved with Indivisible and learn how to do it the right way: Secured, permitted events with marshals and medics, accessibility, and more. Positive, inspiring speakers instead of "burn it all down" cynicism. Learn, and then go organize your own protest.

We can’t just limit ourselves too big “official” protests, whether there is permits and porta potties. We need to study what they did in other countries like Japan and South Korea and Israel, where there were nightly massive street protests that were peaceful, but unavoidable and disruptive.
