Thanks to the bigoted, racist “Christians” in the Instagram comments, they helped me solidify that Christianity isn’t healthy for me so now I tarot read and I have a collection of witchcraft books instead. It’s so much better for my mental and emotional wellbeing.

It does seem to me that religions are about people refusing to accept that they won't live forever (even if all other living things have a finite lifespan). Who knows, they may be right. Those who take quiet comfort in that belief are not a problem. Those who weaponise their belief certainly are.

Yes. The Upanishads were the product of many authors. Buddhist scripture is even more diverse, as well as Islamic hadith, though al-Quran itself is the record of one man’s dictation.

At least among the apocryphal parts of the Old Testament there’s a “Book Judith”. It’s a sex-and-crime story about the beheading of a hostile general by a woman in order to save her city from capture. Very 1940ish, in a way. (And probably also written by men.)

Yeah, the 40 relies on traditional authorship. It's really far more, but over significantly less time. Probably closer to 800 years, with the incorporation of some older poetic fragments. And most likely only on two continents, unless some of the New Testament was written in Egypt

And translated by someone who read someone else’s transcript which was translated by someone else who read someone else’s transcript which was translated by someone else who read someone else’s transcript which was translated by someone else who read someone else’s transcript which…

Sure, accept, “Aside from early structural trims, the text of Romans did not undergo major rewrites or theological doctoring. What you read today reflects the exact message Paul dictated from a house in Corinth nearly 2,000 years ago.”

I’m not sure if some of us have evolved much over the last couple of thousand years…🤦🏼‍♀️ "In Northern Norway, some American tourists felt scammed because the midnight sun was just the same as the regular daytime sun. They expected a new sun to rise at midnight."😳😜

The entire story falls over at the first hurdle in Genesis when light is created without a source which any scientist can tell you is physically impossible. Let us not gloss over the physical threats of violence for non compliance either which proves believers to be nothing but pure EVIL!!

The 1st few lines are relevant & must be followed. PLANT-BASED LAW (The Word is beyond the senses: is not written, spoken or physical. Vibration, Resounding Consciousness. We & Everything are this Consciousnss. It is within us & can be journeyed upon via correct meditation) Scholars know the edits

My first year of high school, I had to take Theology, and the teacher showed us paragraphs in the Bible where two completely different narratives were just stitched together. Everyone knew those were just stories.

The Jefferson Bible makes more sense. It’s also much easier to carry, being quite small after Thomas removed the parts that didn’t make sense.

And how many editors did it have to pass? I know the Catholic Church reformed it quite a few times, then the Lutheran church, the Mormon church had a go, the evangelists, varied Protestant factions like the baptists and seventh day adventists but you get the point.

Koine Greek, the predominate language of the apostolic period, hadn't been spoken for a thousand years by the time the King James Bible was translated. Being divinely inspired, the translation was perfect, word for word.😆

All propaganda and to keep mediocre men subjugating women by god’s decree?? I think Moses was smoking too much weed when he made up that burning bush crap….. Religious wars are sanctimonious arrogance and greed. “The 10 Commandments are meant to be trashed in the name of hypocrisy”. Amen 🙏🏾

Lately I've been on a kick to get people to think about the real history of the bible as opposed to thinking of the bible as an accurate historical account. It's about time these bible thumpers REALLY learned about their religion and just didn't take their pastor's word for it.

People are entitled for their opinions. But I read my Bible. I believe in what it says. The old testament is more of historical accounts. The new testament is for my salvation. I am a democrat, a believer, a freedom lover, love human kind. #Dignity for all #Americans whether they believe or not.

and there's this one story that the carpenter guy died but came back to life later. you know they made up that one because 2000 years ago it was always the women who played the central role in important myths. you know how those jewish men were.

The Bible is a translation of the most translated boooook in history Analogous to the old elementary school classroom exercise where the teacher whispers to a student something that is passed from one to another until the last student regurgitates a totally different statement. That’s the Bible
