like you're really interested in whether or not this was political, you might look at the new ownership (Larry Ellison) and the kind of people Larry Ellison is rumored to be bringing in to help shape the new CBS news division (Bari Weiss)? Instead they mostly discard the claim as a dem opinion

People who don't think the Ellisons/Skydance folks are already all up in CBS business dictating what they want done are fooling themselves What, you think they're afraid of meddling in business operations before the paperwork's finalized in a country that just destroyed all its federal regulators?

Years ago- a friend who at the time was much further left than I was warned me and said NPR stood for “Nice Polite Republicans” and it took a while for me to see it. Now I can’t unsee it. I used to be a daily listener -now hardly at all. There’s no point- it’s just hopium not even a noble gas

And the disappointment. I replaced network news with NPR for a long time- since Clinton but I saw cracks even back then. They were my last kind coffee in the morning news type ritual. So it was an emotional blow too I guess. I’m sorry NPR but normalizing bad shit is how we got here- you weren’t 👇

Yeah but I usually am good about keeping track of the billionaire techbros' and their spawns' myriad of corporate projects, the bigger ones anyway. I guess it goes to show that even when you think you are fully paying attention some big details can still slip by.

The billionaire's club stick together and protect each other. It's a fraternity for vile old rich white men who want to use their wealth for power and control. No matter how heinous the act, they will band together, knowing that they will need the same protection in the future.

The Ellisons/Skydance people are 100% already dictating things! All that's left is a handful of feckless CBS execs basically being told what to do! There are no longer any functioning regulators who'll enforce pre-deal meddling. The new ownership is 100% relevant!

You know what to do with CBS, folks. Tank 'em. Don't give them any time or ratings. They will be permanently "OFF" in my house when Colbert leaves. F*ck 'em,

Very relevant. The Ellison family can all go jump in a lake. They’re part of the billionaire class selling out our democracy so they can be a little more rich in the short term (even though recent history shows billionaires do better under dem presidents without psychotic trade wars)

We studied the times in a university class, showing how they lied in reporting on unions, etc. I read it, but you are sure right, this would have been have been nice to read in there. I guess boycotting CBS is in order. Billionaires trying to make us think in their sick weird ways.

He doesn’t care if he destroys CBS and loses a couple hundred million, as long as he can keep republicans in power and avoid billions in taxes. Same with political donations, good investments for the oligarch class.

The deal is done barring FCC approval, which is guaranteed. The Skydance people are 100% already in there dictating choices, and the only CBS execs left are feckless sycophants operating in fealty the incoming owners and trump

If you, like me, do not like CBS’s cancellation of the Colbert Show for political reasons, give CBS the Target treatment. I plan on watching nothing on CBS except the Colbert Show and nothing on it after the Colbert Show stops broadcasting. Let’s show CBS our power.

We are powerful if we act in concert to achieve a common goal. I am confident that our efforts will result in the ratings of the Colbert Show to skyrocket and the ratings of CBS and the subscriptions to Paramount + to plummet. Thank you for helping to make this happen.

This boycott call enthusiastically is being answered based upon responses that I am getting to my posts. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Please redouble your efforts to get the word out. CBS and Paramount + soon will hear YOU.

Oh, @nytimes.com is bad at giving the whole truth, you say?

Always has been. I gave up on @nytimes.com back during Trump 1.0 when they referred to the convicted officer writing a book as a retired navy seal. The pardon doesn't overturn the conviction; the headline writers made a choice (and not just a click ait choice). Complicit.

Skydance/Ellisons are already in there dictating decisions and making it very clear what they want to happen what, you think they're afraid of U.S. regulators that no longer exist inquiring as to whether they're meddling in operations before the paperwork is done?

I wouldn’t wipe my ass with the NYTimes bought off journalists just like ABC and NBC and all the other billionaire MSM soulless bootlickers 🤬 Love Colbert great show their loss I Hope Stephen finds a great new home. I’ll be watching I stand with Colbert he’s not a weak knee coward ✊🏻👊🏻✌🏻
