You guys should try my app - StayPee. It tells you the best time to piss yourself in the theatre during a movie, which will cause maximum distress to your fellow moviegoers.

I used Microsoft products at work for about 35 years, and used them on my home computers as well. Over time, their stuff got bloated and somehow less intuitive. The constant need to upgrade hardware was annoying. When I retired, I switched at home to Linux. Two computers, reliable, no fuss.

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

We reject the evidence of our eyes and ears at this point because the Party keeps defying our incredibly low expectations.

note who in the media is trying to make a story out of out-of-context comments by barack obama (who hasn't been president in 10 years) instead of much-more-offensive, in-context comments by donald trump, who is president. they like trump and want to help him

Contrast that with the Obama clips from yesterday. It’s such an obvious “good vs evil” situation and yet we failed a very similar test 2 years ago….

thinking fondly again of the college girl at the donut place, who made a little muslim boy bounce giddily out the door after she told him his donut was free, and who waved me away and said "you're good" when it was my turn to pay and then, when asked if there was a deal that day said "i hate my job"

Tina Peters will be on 60 Minutes Sunday, according to her attorney, who says HE was cut entirely from the piece, which will also feature Gov. Polis. In a press release, lawyer Peter Ticktin made himself available for interviews before and after the broadcast, which he expects will be “one sided.”

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

The political media is letting Trump and his stooges spread contemptible and inflammatory lies about Democrats without ANY fact-based pushback. Have you seen a single article that says "No, in fact XXX is not a communist?"(Yes, I've been sayin this for a while.) presswatchers.org/2026/07/trum...

the other thing is that conservatives resolutely do not see the purpose of education as providing social mobility but as reifying and deepening existing inequalities of status. they are as hostile to low income students getting admission to elite institutions as they are black ones.

"Democracy dies unless Maggie Haberman has access to senior Trump aides and McConnell/Romney Republicans respect us" is essentially the argument Times editors have been making since 2018. I can't tell if they actually believe that or it's a pretext for their decision not to change their approach.

Mark Jacob@markjacob.bsky.social

This morning I re-watched my video argument with the NY Times' Patrick Healy, and it's clear that the Times believes if it says explicity that the Trump regime is assaulting democracy, that would undermine its work to investigate how the regime is assaulting democracy. What an absurd position.

In 1993, Trump signed a mortgage for a Florida home, pledging it would be his principal residence. Seven weeks later, he attested a neighboring property would also be his principal residence. In reality, he does not seem to have lived in either home. (Published Dec. 2025)

Could not be more pleased to share the culmination of my "sturgeon project" out today in Nature! www.nature.com/articles/s41... I and my co-authors estimate neck mobility in some of the first vertebrates on the road to conquering life on land. We found that the necks were surprisingly stiff!

nature.comEarly tetrapod neck mobility modelled using an extant analogue - NatureBiomechanical analysis of several early tetrapods using sturgeon as an analogue revealed that early tetrapods had limited neck mobility despite separation of the head and shoulders.
