My brother and sister in law both had to have heart surgery and when she passed away my brother in law found out that she had been paying off their medical bills with credit cards. 13 credit cards. Now he will never be without debt until he dies. Welcome to America.

Cannot imagine being in your situation. Hope you and your family get through this nightmare. Universal healthcare works for the people it serves. Wife entered ICU on Dec24 2024. Came home on Feb25 2025. Cost to us was just over $700 - for parking while visiting her.

US citizen who has lived in another country that has universal health care and it's an amazing experience! You feel "lighter" just knowing that you are not going to lose everything you have in order to pay for health care. Or have to choose between eating and seeing a doctor.

When Brits tell Americans we don't go bankrupt for health reasons they say what about your freedom...... A) what can you do I can't? B) what good is freedom if you're dead?

70% of the world’s population has universal healthcare, but not the US We are the only highly developed nation without it Our healthcare is twice as expensive as the average wealthy nation US ranks last among industrial nations for deaths that could be prevented with timely access to healthcare

It's crazy that so many have been brainwashed to think that the only acceptable universal health care plan is a 135 page, 35-year-old concept of a plan for 20% of the economy, from an 84 year old millionaire who's been on Capitol Hill for 35 years.

Of course you’ve been brainwashed for that because the corporations the insurance companies with the power over the people who make the policy .They decided that making money off of your health is of importance to make them able to afford another super yacht or another holiday home

Republicans have been brainwashing the masses for decades that asking for and expecting anything good from Government is unpatriotic & selfish. It’s why they hate every Democratic President & media follows along. Domestic policy from Biden/Harris could have been expanded under a Harris Presidency.

Any thinking person would ask themselves, who loses if we have universal health care and what reasons do those opposed, have for not wanting it!

It’s crazy we think universal healthcare (UHC) is bad. It’s crazy we think UHC is expensive. It’s crazy we think UHC would increase taxes. It’s crazy we think UHC provides no lift to jobs or wages. It’s crazy we think UHC is radical or extreme. We’re quite crazy.

In 2025 the US Paid 18% of GDP for Healthcare. France with primarily Single Govt Payer & 60/40 public/private providers payed 9.74% , Switzerland with 100% Private Payer (with 28% opting to pay extra for higher coverage) payed 12.1% for a 22/78 public/private provider split. Both are the gold

standard for Healthcare with 100% coverage for all citizens. In the US 8% of all Americans had NO health insurance and that rose to over 11% of working age citizens. For that lack of coverage and for 49% of all Americans 'worrying' about healthcare coverage, the US over-paid 2.5Trillion$

Calm down and re-read the posts. The gold standard refers to the French and Swiss systems. The French being the best example of a Single Government Payer and the Swiss being the best example of 100% Non-Governmental Payer.

Reminder to everyone bragging about their universal healthcare in developed countries: not to forget colonization, land theft, and erasure of Indigenous and the first dark-skinned peoples of those lands is how those countries were built. Universal healthcare is the ancient Indigenous practice.

Let’s never forget the origin of indoctrination against universal healthcare was the white American realization that Black Americans would be included. Read true history. Vilifying Black Americans on welfare, while white Americans gorged on GI bill, SNAP, white welfare benefits and the wealth gap.

The NHS is underfunded but loved in the UK. Our coverage is universal, and free. Per capita spend is well under half of that in the US, because we don't spend billions upon billions funding unneccessary bureaucrats and insurance greed companies who are a hindrance to good health, not a help.

I'm heavily sleep deprived, yet have to drop everything to drive my 24yr old nephew 2hrs away to the hospital that likely botched his surgery because he's still in pain & an ambulance ride will cost over $1k... what healthcare system...

I don’t think anyone thinks it’s bad thing, we just want to see how it works as a sustainable program in a country that’s got 400 Million people in it which is a lot more than anywhere else that currently has universal health care

Americans spend five trillion a year on third-world healthcare. Some experts are saying that pharmaceuticals may be the leading cause of preventable death in the US. Not from misuse or abuse, but from wrong prescriptions, misdiagnosis, untested drugs, and interactions.

Yep, the other 37 industrialized countries across the world, that all have universal healthcare, are just a bunch of commies. 😜😜😜

We have a cottage in North Bay-Ontario-Canada area. We find a-lot of Canadians we spend time/talk w/in this area tell us they think our paid system is better than their Universal System (#1 complaint-long wait time for care) I find it perplexing. Do they know we pay and still wait or get no care??

I feel same. But our Canadian friends up there feel ours is better for some reason?Granted-it’s a small group “survey” in more rural area. Is there targeted misinformation going on there too? I just don’t know. Im scared for them- I hope they don’t go against their own interests, like we do here?…

And despite all of this, Healthcare was one of the most impacted job losses last read. They are firing the people who have to deal with insurance...not the doctors nor nurses. B But probably the people responsible for disposal of the toxic shit....

Please thank the GOP for promoting the idea that Universal Healthcare is a bad thing! The GOP is still mad about the social reforms that came out the FDR ADMINISTRATION!

Just went for an X-ray on an arthritic toe, waited a couple of weeks for the appointment at minor hospital 6 miles away and paid £0000.00 for the privilege. Seems like advanced socialized medicine working well in Scotland (and who knows what my robotic protectomy bill would have been in the US?)

Worse, that everything needs to be for profit. And even worse, not a little bit of profit but as much as you can get. A cancer drug that costs 25 cents to make sold for over $1,000. And of course, we need the people at the top to earn lots more, I mean, the American way 🙄 Greed rules in America 🙄

Of course it’s propaganda. Private healthcare is one of the biggest profit centers there is. Probably right up there with building planes, bombs, missiles, and war stuff.

The constant attack on Canada's healthcare system by American politician and medical groups. Our universal healthcare just existing is considered a threat. A lot of money is given to conservative Canadian politicians to try and break our system so they can privatize it.

They are probably being funded by United Healthcare and beasts like that. They make SO much money from Americans in Premiums and co pays, YET they refuse to pay for damn nearly every thing our Drs says we NEED! It’s a crap system, don’t let them convince it’s working here IT IS NOT!

I got the"longevity bonus" last year. Medicare. Premiums went from $1100/mo w/ $5K deductible (which meant I couldn't actually afford to use it) to $220/mo w/ deductibles covered by Part C plan. Every employer (currently paying >50% of prem if they provide benefit) could/would cover 100% of $220.

A lot of people aren’t brainwashed and very familiar with the benefits of what we could have and never will. Record numbers of Americans are becoming residents of other countries for this and a gazillion other reasons.

Every time it’s been brought up for many years it was called “socialism” and that was that. But younger generations aren’t buying into the bs. They’re smarter and more knowledgeable than previous generations who’d be dumb enough to buy insurance and not realize being taxed actually maths out cheaper

My MAGAt parents genuinely think Universal Healthcare and healthcare for everyone means "illegals and ni---rs get health care and I don't get any."

The sad thing is almost every Centrist Democrat voter who supported Harris and now Buttigieg are universal health care deniers too. This time and going forward a Democrat running on Obamacare or Medicare For All Who Want It, will lose big time. Elect Young Progressives Affordability Medicare4All

I find it very difficult to understand why not all Americans are demanding universal healthcare. All I can say is try it and see if you still hate it after a year of worry free healthcare that’s paid for by your taxes seamlessly.

No, America has been brainwashed to believe that universal healthcare is socialism and that, in turn, socialism is “bad”. The continued use of the word socialism is going to drive a deeper schism in the political views of Americans, leading into another McCartyism era of sociology-political upheaval

A refinement to this is that “they” have also convinced the masses that socialism for the monied class is good. “Too big to fail” is the term ponied out when banks make bad decisions, questionable auto manufacturers teeter on the verge. They call it “Trickle down economics” the lie of the Regan era.

Greatest issue is those that would lose huge bags of cash simply convince the small brained no-research public that universal health care would jack up their own taxes and cost them a few pennies, unlike the uber-rich who will lose said bags of overflowing ill gotten blood gains.

You are the victim of you own ignorance. Literally the whole developed world is showing you it works. But you, blinded by your superiority complex, choose to ignore the reality. Switch off the Fox news and wake up!

For a great many people it will be back to no care- is that a positive goal, to have many more very sick and dying people - with fewer hospitals and overworked to burnout providers? Want lower life expectancy and higher maternal and infant/pediatric mortality?? A goal to have older people die?

Huh?…how? My traditional Medicare is wonderful. For taxes less than what is now being paid in premiums to medical insurers we can have better care for everyone. No one is talking about a govt health system, just a govt insurance system. Medicare for all!

Republicans have convinced many Americans that we can't have nice things. We can! Tax corporations & the wealthy proportionally. Establish a bipartisan committee to research and plan how to make Universal Healthcare work.

The problem is the Republicunts are telling "the uneducated" that Trump loves, that immigrants are stealing healthcare. It feeds into the whole racist agenda that spoon feeds hate to the working class, "not with my tax dollars" crowd.

I think it is worth saying that most doctors and health care providers would actually benefit from "Medicare for all" The number of claims private health insurance wrongly denies results in physicians and other providers going unpaid. Insurers are not providing the benefits they are paid for.

I had a stroke last Friday- ive lost the sight on me left - homonymous hemianopsia - now im waiting for the neurologist appt, a mri, after care etc. Im not paying shit because im canadian and we have universal healthcare. And yes I have to wait a few days for scheduling- i had 2 CT scans

Iwas triaged based on the results- I get it. I also know there is no magic to fix it. But im hlad im not a US citizen where I would have paid to go to the hospital, the CT scans, the shit they infused for the scans and paperwork - not mention whats to come. And yes im angry n scared I had a stroke!

I'm so sorry! The Husband of a friend of mine has a bad heart. He has to have surgery to remove a plug. He has to wait 2 weeks. And that's in the United states

Yeah thats an issue no matter what type of abatement you have as nonone has enough doctors. And it all depends if you live in a place / city where doctors want ro live rhata the reality- we need more techs too

Indeed, it's pathetic that they would even attack something as lackluster as the ACA (Obamacare/Romneycare) with Propaganda. We need to make it clear to the American sellout Politicians in both Parties. Anything short of #MedicareForAll is unacceptable.

As it consider be great news that a large majority of Democratic voters in U.S. who were once like Democratic Loyalist have resentment to the Democratic Party but only the Corporate Wing by hoping rather have a reform of a Progressive Wing. Siri Crowe is great host of MeidasTouch who's more critical

We've been brainwashed to think "we can't afford it. They're gonna raise our taxes so much." I think we would be ahead of the game if we didn't have to worry about healthcare at all. It's just ridiculous that you have to have money to be healthy.

"It's crazy that we've been brainwashed to think that universal healthcare is a bad communist thing." By the Private Insurance Mouthpieces Paid For by Donors in Insurance Corporation that Give Your Car Better Cover than Your Health, The People Who Call a Hurricane an Act of God then Refuse Cover

No “person” thinks universal healthcare is a bad thing. Medical insurance companies and for-profit hospitals and the politicians they own 💰💰💰 are the only things who object to it.

Greetings from the United Kingdom, where healthcare and dentistry are (mostly* free) and prescriptions cost £10 per item regardless of the cost to the NHS - plus there are loads of concessions, such as free to under 16s and over 60s. *Private medicine and dentistry does exist - if you want to pay.

It’s a collective buying scheme which ensures cheaper prices for treatments due to scale. No private system can match that. The U.S. loves bulk buying - that’s how universal healthcare works.

It’s (maybe) even crazier that you’ve been brainwashed to elect a dumbfounded rapist and felon president twice…and all the GOP minions: absolute caricature of the stupidest Montypythonesque villain.

It’s not that : it’s buy into pulling yourself up by your boot straps. Everything you value about being an American is wrapped up in the myth of the “rugged individual “. Be if you can afford it, then you did something wrong. Haven’t you noticed the number of thieves masquerading as successful

The work of many is dismissed here. The ACA fight w/ GOP was brutal but just one step after CHIP. But slowly, it's benefits were chipped away. We all have a lot to answer for. Our votes have been against our interests. But blaming "the establishment" is lazy, imo. It's been a long, complex declne.

Reminder that when they scare us with some of the flaws in other universal health care systems, those flaws were invariably caused by right wing sabotage and cuts to create problems they could run against.

Every time I come across anyone complaining "we can't afford it" I counter with "Thought we are the richest country in the world! 138 'poor' countries can do it and WE can't? Why not?" Also, I remind them that Can't and Won't have the same outcome, but one is a choice. I have yet to get a response.

It seems the corporations would like not having to give health insurance to employees, I don't get why that isn't part of the discussion?

This, thank you. It’s maddening how conservatives have put scare tactics around actions that have a net benefit to more people. And then how many people join in, because they can’t sacrifice their ego by admitting they were wrong.

The gop convinced millions of their minions forever that slackers would pilfer their taxes for what should be only their own. Now, look who did the actual pilfer?

As a Taiwanese, with our National Health Insurance being ranked the best worldwide for several years in a row, I can sincerely say once you have it you will never want to go back. No wait times, same day guaranteed schedule, choose any hospital or doctor you want, high quality, extremely affordable.

I just spent 10 days in hospital. Excellent care. All meals provided - some of the pretty good. All medication provided. Cost nothing. Got to love the Australian healthcare system. Governments should look after people

When I speak with MAGA, they love the idea of universal healthcare. It’s just that they are scared it’ll increase taxes because of other people using it.

The most selfish Americans will also bend the knee to give their highest freedoms to the Worthy Wealthy Leaders who ... soon now ... will hand us loads of dough for no apparent reason we can ever recall.
