Look at the bright side. If the AI business crashes for lack of a mass market, we'll be able to buy brand new giant buildings with plenty of water and electricity for pennies on a dollar and solve the housing crisis.

Time to change the rules the right way.To the betterment of human- kind. Not greedy white men, religious/evangelical white people, oligarchs, insurance companies, right wing/magat things.. People, in the entire color and gender spectrum, what ever religion or lack thereof ..humanities rules only

Because people who ride Amtrak — as opposed to, say, high-speed rail in Japan, China or Germany — know high-speed rail doesn't exist in North America, let alone in Los Angeles County.

I’m against data center proliferation but this is stupid. high speed rail has to go through highly populated areas owned by lots of different people in many jurisdictions with different rules. Data centers can be built anywhere zoning is lax or friendly to them because location doesn’t matter.

When an industry spends years telling themselves how smart they are, the will believe the smoke they blow up their own skirts. What has the tech community done over the last forty years that helped make a better society other than hand held communicators?

Don't forget snake oil salesmen stealing billions for things like the hyperloop that will never happen, which just kills any chances of building realistic solutions in the future

If protesters ask about water availability for a data center, that should end the question of building one of those monsters. Land might not be a problem but water? Droughts can hit fast and furious and not much people can do about it. So protecting one's water source is vitally important.

Texas has a lot of droughts! Also, the data centers will use a lot electricity. We have already been notified by elec cos. that we may have to go on rotating power outages. And they can't even guarantee protection for hospitals & ppl w/medical equipment! Also will cause more bad air quality days.

More detail needed. It's because billionaires need data farms 4 profit, in $$$ & power. If billionaires needed high speed rail there would be be no environmental review; billionares use their own private planes & ships with no environmental review.

Exactly, in the 1920's there was a great rail system in LA but a subsidiary of GM, Standard Oil and Goodyear bought and destroyed it to make LA auto-centric. Forever profit for them, traffic jams and pollution for the little people

They did this to every town and city throughout the United States. Fuck the Oligarchy!

In the early 20th Century, basically all cities and towns in the United States had a comprehensive electric tram network. GM, Firestone, and Standard Oil partnered to buy up all those systems and dismantle them. The Oligarchs gleefully burned The People's infrastructure. Literally.
