Collins must be destroyed politically. If Platner is the only person who can do that then so be it. Platner cannot be worse than ANY of the Republican Senators.

Nothing Platner has been accused of is in the same ballpark of evil as Collin’s vote to confirm Kavanaugh has proven to be. Not remotely. Until and unless something worse surfaces, get behind him. It puts the Platner on its skin, or else it’s gonna lose again.

Yay! Good, good, good. Dems so much do need fresh blood, energy, and focus on working people. Am glad the Dems demanding purity were ignored.

He was asked that same question months ago...he said THEN nothing else would come out. I have no hope that even if it did....Platners supporters wouldn't ignore that too. They are full blue MAGA now.

I think he said some very good things in his acceptance speech. It went on too long and he rambled a bit but he sure does have the message right. He sounded like he was in a general election race.

wtf are you talking about he invaded iraq and afghanistan if russias congress or whatever gets a signature on a paper they get to go to your house and kill you, he wanted to kill people and he did gleefully

JFC. Six years to come up with a candidate and that's the best they can do. A creep. The Democrats just can't get out of their own way. Will not be surprised when he loses. And he will.

Hard to tell how many of Platner's votes were from people genuinely thrilled with his stances & how many were telling DC/DNC pundits who kept trashing Platner to go fuck themselves with a rusty lobster trap. I know a few Mainers who said, & I quote, "they are treating us like we're fucking 'tards".

Oh for chrissakes, relax. No, I didn’t see the tiny little 13 that has no label. I assumed that when someone calls a final result on an election, the graphic they’re using is the final tally.

I was worried the negativity re Platner might depress voter turnout in Maine, but the numbers look as expected for a primary election turnout. Maybe even a bit better. So that's a good sign.

I’m happy to hear that. Because voter enthusiasm is so important. Which is why NYT and WaPost and WSJ all published these accusations 1 week before the primary. Not excusing homophobia & misogyny. But no comparison with Collins complicit in Detention Centers & Paramilitary ICE force.

That was pretty emphatic. Looks like the time to argue about his qualifications and/or personal life might be over. Unless you want six more years of "CONCERN" from a not terribly nice old woman, who will be a VERY old woman by the time that six years is up.

Doubt it. Even Fetterman’s wife says the stroke changed his entire personality. Unless Platner strikes out too, I douby we’ll end up with a stealth GOP collaborationist.

My understanding is that Fetterman was always like that, and that the red flags were there the whole time. The stroke merely made it more visible. I honestly dont see Platner like that, but some of his policies, specially concerning the military have bothered me. Overall im cautiously optimistic

I hear ya, Mike~ This is absurd What does it take to make some people understand that the “united” states is strong when people UNITE Drink an extra cup of coffee and get movin’ before the doors to our freedom get locked up and sealed I guarantee you, loss of our democracy won’t be fun for ANYONE

Primary Elections only bring out the people who really pay attention. In my state our voter turnout was 38% which is about half our final election. So it's not just Maine. But I agree. More people need to vote!!

Maine has traditionally had historically high voter turnout. When I looked about ten minutes ago, only about 3000 ballots had been counted. Apparently the smaller towns came out for Platner.

You were more than a little premature in your criticism there, Mike. Looks like around 200K total voted, of which 130K went for Platner, and it's not even a presidential year. That's a stunning endorsement of both him and his platform.

As far as I can tell the final numbers aren’t even available but either way there are almost a million registered voters in Maine how you think 200k deserves the word “stunning” is beyond me

1. It's not hard to find the numbers. 2. You yourself cited the figure of 325,974 registered Democrats in Maine. That almost two thirds of them voted in a primary in a non-Presidential year is indeed incredible. You're being naive or disingenuous saying otherwise. www.nbcnews.com/politics/202...

This is what I hate about Dem politics (and I say this as someone who’s the comms director for a Dem in the South running right now). Platner has taken accountability for his past. And motherfuckers still wanna wag their fucking finger. It’s pathetic. Yall purity test good people out of races.

what's actually disgusting is all the random blueskyers screaming Nazi, Nazi over a skull and crossbones tattoo. I'm not a Nazi symbologist and I'll bet 95 percent of you ALSO thought of pirates and poison when you saw this symbol before this "controversy". gtfoh with your whining.

good Lord people complaining about the numbers of people voting!!! You do understand what percent reporting means right? it's at 13 percent at time of this vote. sometimes the stupidity on bs astounds me. calm down - votes aren't all counted in an hour!

Best candidate I've had the privilege of voting for in my lifetime. Freaking thrilled. Nearly everyone outside of Maine and most of the pundits in Maine haven't bothered to actually look deeper at the known facts about him - or really *listened* to him. Prefer the easy mid sling. More clicks

In terms of his actual politics, he’s one of the best in years. Yeah, he’s got dirt. The Republicans unapologetically nominated an Epstein pedo who starts wars for Israel, why should we cede ground to them by taking the high road, which always results in a loss?
