At some point there is a pretty good chance he asks them to kill Americans and potentially die in his name, and I remain extremely unconvinced that he's priming them properly for that assignment.

This is absolutely true for ICE agents, and I have no empathy for them. This is not the case for the National Guard - "quitting", i.e. AWOL, prior to the end of their service term has serious long-term consequences, up to and including state prosecution.

He's not capable of caring about anyone other than himself. That being said, I'd rather have them picking up litter than walking the streets threatening everyone.

This isn't on the Guardsmen, and clearly it's not what they signed up and trained for. I'm sure they'd prefer to be home and enjoying life with their families and friends. Not much they can do to get out of it either.

“Suckers and Losers.” trump has been credibly quoted as having said this about soldiers killed in action. trump despises the military. He views them as pawns to be manipulated however he sees fit.
