So, I refresh my feed and your comment to this story is the first thing I see. I'm fighting for the Sesame Street who taught me a lot of these sociophile strategies, against the still-children who are against public education and PBS. May we live in interesting times. :)

Not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure firing a bunch of people because they wanna unionize is retaliation and a violation of labor laws

I grew up watching that show. I was one of the first generations of kids to watch it, from the first episode. I wish kids had more educational TV programming for them. But times are different... between video games and social media alone kids are watching too much garbage on TV.

Wanting to form a union doesn't mean the management is bad. It could just be to make sure it stays good. Sadly, this did not seem to be the case, because corporations can never be trusted to be managed well for their workers.

The timing of this announcement is too suspect not to think there is a very good chance it is a retaliatory action against the employees looking to unionise. Unfortunately, the fascist regime in DC has gutted public and private worker protections, so any legal action will be slow and may fail.

Sesame Workshop, a non-profit, took a corporatist stance when employees wanted to collectively bargain. This is why non-profits come under such scrutiny, because they generally don't behave like non-profits should.

Well Sesame Street is famous for having been an important educational component of early childhood for impoverished inner-city kids which are primarily Black, so...this comes as no surprise for this modern hellscape. Nothing is sacred to fascists, especially if it benefits minorities.

Also there is of course just the angle of capitalists being evil sacks of shit but white supremacy and all its systemic forms of racism are just extensions of capitalism which is upheld by ultra-wealthy, barely sapient blobs of mayonnaise anyway, so.
