NPR doing Trump's work for him, manufacturing consent. I'd say I'm surprised but after seeing how you handled Palestine, I'm really not. Just disappointed as fuck.

@npr.org have you been huffing your ink supplies? What in the actual fuck kind of stupid do you have to be to write something this uninformative and shallow? We hoped we could count on you as media. Clearly we were mistaken. Go fuck off all the way into the sun. Then send us the weather forecast.

Of course all of these Venezuelan-Americans have just had their Temporary Protective Status (TPS) revoked by the Trump cartel. So they are subject to immediate deportation to Venazuela, where the US has further destabilized the government. Trump supporters are always made to cheer their own demise

Well there will never be a mainstream media company that will give you 100% opinions you agree with. NPR still leans very left, and they have more access than smaller independent companies. If we just all boycott, then rightwing media will fill the void and you are left with the 10% farthest left

This isn't on NPR, the Venezuelan diaspora is going to act like the Cubans and push bad policy in the goal of changing decades old history. This is why Jefferies is issuing soft statements, because the consultants are off trying to triangulate the FL electoral college math.

They’re about to get punked. Trump still calls them violent criminals. He’s going to run three country organizing theft of the oil and resources.

Trump revoked TPS for all 300,000 Venezualan migrants who came to the US in 2020. Each and every one of the people you see here are subject to immediate deportation. Fuck up the country, force people given mercy to go back. It's the evangelical dream. He hates the same Christians we do

They will eventually be very disappointed since everything trump touches dies (Rick Wilson). Maduro will probably agree to a settlement so they don’t have to go to trial and share evidence with the public. Meanwhile the tech bros and oil companies will be buying up all the land rights.

#Trump has illegal Exchanged the #President of #Venezuela. The new one will do what Trump #USA wants as a puppet. It’s about stealing the Venezuelan Fossil #Oil. That’s imperialism / #fascism.

If I were a Venezuelan who fled my country because of Maduro’s oppression I might be celebrating as well. They should be given a voice too, but the fact is that the U.S. just short circuited the democratic process, and did so by running roughshod over the law, and with no real plan forward

They sort of have to act that way--which is not to say it isn't sincere. My point is that the only way they can keep from being deported is to publicly support Trump.

While Maduro may have needed to be ousted, the US government has no legal authority to decide that for Venezuela and I don’t see this case making it to trial since they illegally abducted him by force.

So, are you people here saying that people from Venezuela's opinions don't matter and shouldn't be reported? I am sure NPR has other stories condemning what happened. You are justifying the reason Trump canceled funding to NPR. If you want puirity reporting, just stay in your echo chamber

And you don't think YOU'RE in an echo chamber? Come on, my guy. No one is arguing that Maduro isn't a shit dictator. The arguments are that this is not a legal action by the US, and it's for oil theft only, which will result in destabilizing a country. There's no plan to restructure a country.

With regard to not trusing ANY mainstram media. Not all smaller far left media outlets have access to reporting like NPR or NYT. So that is what we have. They lean left. Should we only promote smaller media companies that give us 100% of what we want to feed on?

NPR went into a Venezuelan community and got some people's opinions. Were there opposite opinions? Maybe, but I would think that the vast majority were happy to see him out no matter the cost. They emigrated for a reason

I agree to everything you just said. Its just that when people say, in other posts, that NPR is turning into MAGA, it reminds me of fox news chats saying that fox news has gone woke when there is an article they either disagree with or is focusing on an alternate opinion.

Not only is he doing it for oil resources, but to distract from the Epstein Files. You are now led to the propaganda reports of "but the people wanted this!" Does that mean I get dictator Trump hauled out of this country by Canada? Cuz I want that.

I am going more bald since joining blue sky. The comments here are the exact same as when an article on fox news comes out that maga thinks it doesn't support their narrative, the say it has gone full woke lol. Your comments feed into the reason Trump removed funding. They are just reporting.

One tyrant removed by another fascist tyrant who will steal all your countries resources what is wrong with you people do you not know the danger of the US. The moron says he’s going to run your country

Really! Just wait for when Trump's attack euphoria subsides & realizes there may be retaliation from aboard. For sure they'll be screaming as ICE sprays their face with maze as they try to show they Trump card, beats them with batons & drags them away in handcuffs perhaps to end up at CECOT.

It’s same thing with Cuba. Ex pats in u.s. think that when regime is gone, they are gonna go back , take back homes and businesses they left decades ago and run the country. …. Nope

The king of Saudi Arabia is a far worse dictator. He owns all the oil in Saudi Arabia. His human rights record is atrocious. He subjugates women. He murders the press in the US. Kidnap him, take Saudi oil, and indict him for the murder of the WAPO journalist.

Here's a question and its not racist or hate filled towards anyone, will these people now leave America and go back to Venezuela? I'm not American and I don't live in America I'm just curious.

They don't realise the reason for Venezuelas decline into criminality is the CIA. It was fine before USofA started hammering it with sanctions because they had the audacity to tax their own oil. 20 years later we are here. But USofA started all this because of rampant greed for oil.

American ex-pats who left because of Trump support the violent overthrow of Trump, in fact they say guillotines are too good for Trump and his administration and they should be waterboarded and castrated before decapitation. Yea, I see what you did there, you propagandist whores.

I wonder what this says about who those Venezuelans are. Did you ask by any chance? I guess the Cubans will say the same when your country invades Cuba in yet another act of world terrorism. You call yourself journalists.

Wow. Maybe NPR should be defunded if this is the response to an illegal attack on a sovereign nation. The pictures of the DEA with a head of state in custody is propaganda. It’s to make what’s illegal ‘look’ legal. Shame. DEA has zero authority outside of the US. Do better. @npr.org

Will ICE be deploying to Weston and Doral? Maybe it’s complicated, but seems strange to celebrate the unilateral ouster of an unpopular President without supporting the opposition leader, but rather choosing military occupation of a sovereign nation. All while ICE thugs invade American cities.

The story is short and doesn't mention it, but I wonder if they realize that Trump thinks there is no excuse for them to remain in the USA now and if they don't all "self-deport" quickly, he'll do it for them.

So, are you people here saying that people from Venezuela's opinions don't matter and shouldn't be reported? I am sure NPR has other stories condemning what happened. You are justifying the reason Trump canceled funding to NPR. If you want puirity reporting, just stay in your echo chamber

Venezuelans are entitled to their opinions, Maduro’s a bad guy, I’m glad they’re happy. (For now.) But this admin’s power-mad, flailing, over-reach seems like the bigger story. That’s all I meant. I won’t stop my monthly donation to public media over this. We need more independent media.

Understanding who supports this, and why, is actually important. A lot of spineless Republicans and media personalities are receiving new marching orders and falling in line. It's worth differentiating those toadies from the people honestly cheering for this, even though it was illegal.

Yeah. PLEASE, readers, beware of sentences that quote 3 people total and say this is how an entire population feels. And even more, quotes single "words" rather than full statements. JFC. Beware of lazy reporting. Tim Padgett is the Americas Editor for WLRN, Contact Tim at tpadgett@wlrnnews.org

I see some people speaking of "purity politics" 😂 Yes, this is what we want, no "centrist realpolitik" of "let's do what the far-right does to beat the far-right" If it's not left, I'll just block it, fuck this

It's a legitimate story/sidebar. That said, it's also disgraceful that people can't separate condemning Maduro with the illegal actions of our low IQ criminal president.

No shit, how about you ask some actual Venezuelans in Venezuela and not some rich opportunists and criminals who couldn’t exploit poor Venezuelans and more and and fled to the corrupt empire?

Maduro is no saint . But what America does next is as or more important than the act of removing Maduro. If we steal oil and minerals and then install a right wing government, well, that’s pure imperialism.

Even the otherwise horrible Marjorie Taylor Green recognizes that “this is a clear move for control over Venezuelan oil supplies.” The US has launched so many imperialist wars to take control of other country's resources that Trump's illegal invasion of Venezuela, while disgusting, is nothing new.

aren't you ashamed of yourselves giving this framing? NPR used to be good for something. you're amplifying propoganda for this out of control administration with this lede who's editorially responsible for this garbage? do you think your grandchildren will admire or despise what you're doing here

Doesn’t mean the US had the right to do it. We hate trump, can Australia come and kidnap him and run our country until it’s sane again?

Not so fast. Don’t be like Palestinian Americans who abandoned Palestinians in Gaza because their feelings were hurt by Harris or they love strong tone of Trump! Venezuelans in the US should be worried the Venezuela & Venezuelans will be Gaza & people in Gaza. Never trusted conman!

There are 8 million Venezuelans throughout the world who fled the country. About 900,000 Venezuelans live in the USA and 500,000 have TPS. I’d guess that Trump will try to deport them back to Venezuela.
