It's a national embarrassment and @npr.org needs to grow some dignity and stop lying about this. Trump doesn't do anything for anyone but himself. He's throwing a big special birthday party for himself with our taxes. Stop lying for him.

Seriously NPR? Like, really, really? This is not being done to honor our nation's history. Any spin on this grotesque display of narcissism is unacceptable and certainly not a high standard of journalism.

No mention of Trump family stablecoin's insinuation into the event. More Trump deflection from gas prices, his idiotic war, rising inflation, GOP election rigging. He's also boosting the myth of alpha males as toxic masculinism rises and women's rights to vote and breathe are threatened.

Are you abandoning real journalism, NPR? Your title sounds like Trump propaganda. This has nothing to do with America's 250th anniversary. This is all about Trump's ego, and Trump's ego only.

I don’t understand why this is event is not taking place in the courtyard at the Department of War. It does seem like that would be the most suitable location.

Hey, NPR. It's not in honor of our nation's 250th anniversary. It's the wish of our dementia-ridden wannabe emperor to honor HIM on his birthday. Cage fights have nothing to do with our history, everything to do with trashy Trump. Please get the narrative right just once!

SO DISAPPOINTED WITH NPR COVERAGE OF THE NEWS!!! THEY DRANK THE MAGA KOOLAID! DON'T USE THEM FOR A SOURCE OF REAL NEWS ANYMORE!!!

Trump is jealous that the 250th anniversary is getting attention, so he's throwing a birthday party for himself at taxpayers' expense, continuing his defilement of the White House in the process.

Those fighters, exerting themselves in the heat and humidity of a Washington, D.C. summer will develop heat exhaustion. They will wilt and fail after twenty minutes. It the D.C. humidity, sweating doesn't cool you because it doesn't evaporate.

Sorry, NPR, this is no "honor." A baseball game, I might see. Fireworks, yes. A concert by the National Symphony? Sure. But a bunch of "adults" acting out a script to beat each other up is something we should rise above as a nation.

Sure, staging a circus spectacle where humans try to beat the crap out of each other on what’s normally the White House lawn is disrespectful to the Office of the President. But Democrats have no right to complain. After all, Obama wore a tan suit in the Oval Office one day. /s

Let's not forget when Obama spent HUNDREDS of his own dollars to put up a temporary basketball hoop and some temporary paint on a *clutches pearls* tennis court. The absolute gall! I do declare I may need some smelling salts! (in case it is not obvious, /s in the largest font possible)

@npr.org this is an embarrassing article covering a national embarrassment. unfortunately i rarely listen to the npr politics podcast anymore because i can’t deal with the milquetoast reporting and analysis. the government funding is gone, so it seems especially ridiculous to walk a careful line…

No. Not in honor of the 250th. This is a corrupt, self-dealing, self-aggrandizing stage for our toddler-in-chief. Do better, NPR.

occ witchhunt think! jesus was is the most famous infamous psychotic over brimming with godliness, not a one god, not the god, not anymore than any other many similar mentally broken. it matters a lot to me and it connects undergirds all in the usa. laurence odonnell: any of the docs psychiatrists?

Nothing celebrates democracy and our continual fight for actual freedom and justice for all like…two people beating the shit out of each other in a cage. Congrats, America, we’ve jumped the shark. 🤦🏻‍♀️😩

"In honor of"? Hardly. And let's not pretend it has anything to do with 250. The pertinent number here is "80", I think. Which just adds insult to the injury.

This is why I stopped supporting npr during tRump’s first run for president. As a sibling said, “of all the losses bc of tRump coverage, leaving npr hurt the most” As we were about to find out-that wouldn’t be the loss that hurt the most.

No, NPR: It’s not in honor of America’s 250th birthday and you know it. It’s in honor of Trump’s birthday. Has anyone thought to ask why this event would be happening on June 14 instead of July 4?
