A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

There was a brand new allegation that the president raped a woman in the 1990s yesterday and it appears to not be on the NYT homepage at all right now
It is short and so I assume they are looking into things but it is... interesting... that the NYT piece on the new House Dems report on Trump ties to Epstein simply does not mention the brand new rape allegation and says whatever this is instead www.nytimes.com/2026/10/26/u...

One of the most important financial stories out there if you want to know how and why the same five evil guys wind up owning everything.
“Billionaires who popularized stock-based lending include Larry Ellison and Elon Musk. Both borrow to avoid having to sell shares—which could trigger a taxes and dilute their voting rights—in companies they founded.” www.wsj.com/finance/the-...

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.
Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States. "In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct." Report w/ new details: democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

This will go down as one of the most incredible screwups in recent campaign history, and it happened because brain-fried Republicans like Ramaswamy can't imagine that voters don't actually want politicians to be gigantic assholes. My latest at Public Notice: www.publicnotice.co/p/vivek-rama...

"amplify your people" is 100% the best strategy
I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Sub any previous new technology for AI in this warning. "Concerns have been raised that [airplanes, cars, cell phones, CAT scans, polio vaccines] could pose catastrophic or existential risks to humanity." All are subject to some regulation. Not regulate AI? Have we lost our effing minds??

One of the wildest things from the past week was everybody that was actually *in* Paris repeatedly saying, "Dude, everything's fine. It's business as usual. Look at this old piece of art," and a bunch of people that have never left Beaver county trying to tell you it was actually Thunderdome.
Looks like folks had a wonderful time at Steelers-Saints in France. Wishing a big "get stuffed" to all of the nutcases online who: - Urged the NFL to cancel the game or worse - Seemed to *wish* something bad would happen so their opinion would prove correct

Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

Roberts *explicitly* stated that POTUS has immunity even for directing a “sham” prosecution or one with an improper purpose or motivation. He can also promise to pardon anyone who follows his orders. As AG says, what’s the downside, for anyone?
Why wouldn’t he admit it? The Supreme Court immunized this kind of stuff. It’s why Jack Smith had to take the Jeffrey Clark/DOJ/Trump conspiracy out of his Jan 6 indictment.

3 out of 300 polled for a Michigan statewide race would be a poll of 100,000 people.
Mike Johnson: "When I'm in these big arenas, I ask for hands -- 'Show me your hand if you've answered a poll in the last six months.' There will be like three hands among 300 people. I'm telling you, these polls are off. All of them."
