If you weren't tracking it, it's hard to explain how hyperventilated the NRA's rhetoric about looming government jackboots was while Barack Obama was president. It was their/LaPierre's central sales pitch.

"Conservatives believe in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect." - Wilhoit's Law

I hope to share NEW policy options which can unite all of us at the bottom, and warn of the crisis from our 'Us vs Them' divide-and-conquer strategy: "In Case of Apocalypse" on Medium, Anthony Repetto, including "Policy Sledgehammer" to BAN Advertising, to end scams and data-harvesting. Glad to talk

I thought NRA was dismantled after they were caught laundering Russian money into pro Trump ads in the lead up to the 2016 election.

With all due respect to the NRA (which is none), they can go fuck themselves. The good thing about this era is that it is laying bare that none of these "conservative" organizations or politicians actually cared about any of the issues they championed. They only cared about power. Pathetic.

I think the NRA lied and unfairly defamed Tim Walz. I think he should sue them for one billion dollars in damages to his reputation. That seems to be the new standard for defamation.

I remember pointing out on a local gunnies list that the NRA was all-in for a Presidential candidate who'd passed an assault weapons ban over one who'd said he thought pushing for gun control was a bad idea. They kicked me off.

They were also exposed as taking in outside funding from Russia. Turns out it’s hard to pay salaries from membership fees when you change from a pro-gun hobbyist’s org to an uncut far-right lobby group.

They've been full of shit for 50+ years. They stood back and allowed the strictest gun control laws in the US (laws they would later rail against) to be signed into law 60 years ago. I wonder why? 🤔 capitolweekly.net/black-panthe...

I am sure some of the NRAs more libertarian members have died off or dropped their memberships, but I would think some minority of members would not like this just slightly modulated MAGAspeak.

It's about Wilhoit's Law, plus the NRA being owned by firearm manufacturers. Conservative white men are fine with liberals and non-whites getting shot, but not with being governed by a black man. The manufacturers just want to sell more guns, to anyone.

Don’t attempt to explain. Show. Pull up their statements from then and contrast it with what’s happening now. The people should see this kind of context.

Look for a robust and comprehensive cover-up. Not slick or remotely convincing. They just insist, " You didn't see what you saw in all the videos taken from 17 different cameras at as many angles!"

when the donald agrees with your message, you can stage armed protests and his government won't murder you. funny how that works. bsky.app/profile/auti...
