Well, it's not like they're considering anything that could have serious consequences. So a few bugs creep in -- what's the worst that could happen?

If I wanted to make a joke I’d say something about how when you think about it, who better to make transit rules than Transformers, but no. I’m so accustomed to this administration being cruel and evil that I totally forgot they’re also stupid and lazy

They are desperate to make AI work, but AI is really only an elaborate chat bot attached to a search engine. It's a permission structure, not a transformative tool. Any AI making policy needs to have human oversight, and then what's the point of the AI then?

Is this a surprise? The AI tech bros know that their product won't sell in the general public; we can get what we need to amuse ourselves for free. The only place they'll see steady, longer term profits is through sustained government contracts, on a global scale.

For regulations about whether a plane is safe to fly? A train's brakes are well maintained? Whether a road design is safe or kills pedestrians? Those regulations are written in blood!

The underlying fact is that they can reallocate money paid to qualified individuals to wealthy donors. Really most AI is at beta quality, or less. The results are going to be catastrophic.

DO they convert all the regulations to AI-generated mess, then in the subsequent bonanza for lawyers, do regulations get temporarily restrained while the meaning is worked out? I can't see the regulated entities really welcoming this uncertainty.

Remember Trump's liberation day tariff's generated by ChatGPT? That is why he was tariffing islands with only penguins. But to be fair, AI would probably do a better job than the unqualified and incompetent ass kissers that Trump fills his administration with.

Lmao that’s who I meant 😭🤣 but I see how the two could be mixed up. Both are drunk assholes with no qualifications for the job outside of being a willing participants in trumps dick sucking.

"Zerzan added, “We’re flooding the zone.”" - so "go fast and break things" but for legalese. So we'll soon have aviation law that is a mess of essentially "spaghetti code" that probably makes everything illegal, but no one really knows b/c no one understands it in the first place. Brilliant idea.

HELL no! Good enough? Good enough for what? For only a few people to die for no reason? That would definitely track. This administration does not give a fuck about anyone in this country.

Government is bad. GOVERNANCE WITH AI is the way to go. Teach the people how to self govern, then use AI to identify consensus and automate based on that identified consensus. To make that work we need national guilds and cooperative based extended friend and family based socioeconomic units/domim.

This is overt betrayal of the public trust. No one in government has any lawful authority to have a half-baked plagiarism engine concoct nonsense text and call that “regulation”. This lawless administration appears intent on killing as many people as possible.

This otherwise excellent article skips a key point: why is Trump's DoT in such a hurry to make new regulations that they want to use low-quality AI for speed? The answer is almost certainly: this isn't about new regulations. It's about rewriting the existing regulations that keep us safe.

The Republicans have always claimed they wanted fewer regulations - and now they want as many regulations as possible? More regulations than an army of humans could ever write? What the fuck is the idea here?

Immediately wondering how Gemini will handle the cost-benefit analyses required for new rules, and how the Administration will defend AI rule-making when said rules are challenged in court.

As if legal disputes about regulations never revolve around phraseology and punctuation like “and vs or” or “will vs shall”. Nothing wrong with AI to create the starting baseline draft but the formally promulgated rule absolutely must have as close to perfect wording as possible. Idiots at work.
