To sum up : ... "they have shunned fundamental and scientifically sound pharmaceutical intervention. The trend is also fueled by a contradictory pairing: families’ fierce desire to protect their babies and a cascade of false information infused into their social media algorithms."

Please stop using the word "skeptic" to describe a science denier. A skeptic is someone who proportions their beliefs of claims to the evidence that supports those claims. A science denier is the farthest thing from a Skeptic.

I truly detest idiots like this guy who provide fake info, yet calls himself a doctor, even more than I do the idiots like RFK Jr. who know nothing. Hospitals have been giving babies the vitamin K shot since 1961! He has no excuse.

A decade of medical skepticism meets the cold reality of clinical data. NEW: After ProPublica contacted leading vaccine skeptic Dr. Joseph Mercola for an article on babies dying after parents turned down vitamin K shots, he publicly reversed his stance. #Health #Science

You'd think a doctor would look at the massive research at his disposal before opening his piehole on a stage in favor of killing babies. Bet he is pro-life too.

Dr Mercola listened to the science after multiple babies bled to death because he recommended skipping the vitamin K shot to the parents of newborns. He does not get a prize for this. He should be stripped of his medical license.

He is a medical doctor. A trained physician. How many infant deaths did it take for him to FINALLY recognize the importance of these shots? These are, supposedly, educated people. How do they fall for this anti-vax nonsense??

Ya know, there is a perfectly natural reason why most of these people are refusing to have their babies and children treated with proven medical science. And why they flock to unproven and often dangerous or deadly treatments. It's called Natural Selection, just weeding out the stupid.

Mercola pushed a LOT of stupid and sometimes mutually contradictory conspiracy theories to push his products. I remember watching his page and see him slowly cull some reviews and replace them with things that "looked slicker". Not an honest man in the first place.

This man needs to get EPICALLY motivated to reach all the loonies in the boonies who have never even heard of him but still loosely quote his "findings" as they continue to spread disinfo and fear to their neighbors, fam, and friends. Cause that is *still* spreading like a virus

I used to subscribe to Dr. Mercola and unsubscribed when he got political. I will hand him this- I have seen him reverse positions on issues in the past when new data became available. That does not mean i agree with him on anything or everything, but I acknowledge some intellectual honesty.

It's a vitamin! What part of vitamin K don't they understand! Babies need this to survive! People are stupid. Maybe the stupid people who don't listen to science deserve to have their bloodlines end here. Natural selection.

These skeptics need to be struck off as doctors. The damage done in mere months is catastrophic, not only for the babies that needlessly died but for family units that have now suffered unimaginable loss due to the skeptics peddling their bs.

Jesus. "Some point to a 2010 post from Mercola, entitled “The Dark Side of the Routine Newborn Vitamin K Shot.” A doctor in Tennessee recalled reluctant families citing the article, as did doctors in Oregon."

I guarantee he didn't even write it himself. Mercola has been a scammy huckster for decades, and I am sure some minimum wage intern type wrote that and he slapped his name on it. Why? To sell his bullshit newsletter and supplements.

He should be sued for malfeasance & lose his medical license. Because the AMA continues to let bad doctors practice - it gives the rest of the Docs a bad name & contributes to folks not trusting their doctors or science. Step up AMA.

actually his licenses need to be addressed by the states who licensed him to practice (if he is indeed still licensed). He can call himself "Doctor" because he completed the DO education...AMA is just a professional organization

Today, I'm announcing I have changed my mind. The evidence is clear: tossing puppies into wood-chippers is NOT backed by science. I'm now encouraging ALL puppy-owners to immediately cease tossing their puppies into wood-chippers and use alternative methods to stop them from chewing. Love. - Dr Jo

A necessary step in the coming De-MAGAfacation program will need to be. Each gets shot with a ball of their own scat, before they are allowed to speak in public, on any subject whatsoever. Any Subject. #DeMAGA

Reverse too little to late. Should be front page news, news conferences & Mercola owes public a publication on reversal. Chances are RFK, jr will continue espousing his unreversed previous news. RFK has similar pathology to Trump, just likes to always be considered the smartest and always right.

And all it took was a bunch of families devastated by the loss of a child. Maybe all vaccine skeptical doctors should publicly make clear their stances on vaccines. We would’ve never found out this Dr changed his mind, if not for ProPublica. He should’ve come out publicly before so many losses.

Judging from the comments it seems there are no vaccine skeptics on Bluesky. Which is in a way refreshing. But which also confirms the idea of social media as a place where users 'talk' only among others who are like minded. Those who need to see/hear this information are not here.

This is the part of misinformation we don't talk about nearly enough. The stereotype blaming the parents these people fool is a manipulative lie. The perpetrators are well-connected members of medicine's management class, building their empires on a pile of bodies, knowing they're above the law.

In fairness, our systems give a free pass to those responsible for the misinformation most of those people are victims of. Wakefield was protected for over a decade, and it was a journalist who took the guy down. The institutions just jumped on the bandwagon after they lost the fight to save him.

There's no upper limit to the deaths their colleagues at the top will excuse, no amount of needless suffering and disability that matters more than the Thin White Line. Professional organizations that brag about "do no harm" sell you out every day - then whine about losing trust. 🧵:

Module 3 of the UK COVID Inquiry is out. Encouraging to see explicit recognition of the "widespread failure" of clinical leaders to understand aerosol science, and the "clear failure" of IPC leaders to understand that they might be wrong. #medsky #scisky covid19.public-inquiry.uk/reports/modu....

Whenever I hear someone advise another person to “do your own research” about vaccines or other controversial issues, I think about how entrenched this quack’s advice is our society. He has been around a very long time and I can’t figure out why!

When parents refuse health care for their babies they should be made to watch vision of babies experiencing the disease professionals that disorder. Nobody who watches a clip of tiny babies with whooping cough could ever risk it. Ditto catastrophic bleeding.

Well... it's better that people can admit they're wrong, and change the way they think, rather than constantly doubling down. Hard to ignore the human costs, but deprogramming is hard...

It is both infuriating and disgusting that people who have a platform to influence others, cause risks to human lives or other dire consequences, then suddenly have a "come to Jesus" moment and retract their lies. He cannot undue the harm that he may have caused. He is despicable. No respect.

Why suddenly a bunch of amateurs in the Government are pushing to invalidate vaccines?. The only reason I can think of is: when vaccines are validated, they must be covered as basic preventitive protection. When they are not covered, the only ones who benefits from this are the Health Insurance Co.

Any doctor (or medical professional) pushing antivax BS should automatically lose their license to practice in ANY US state or territory. As Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes once told Watson in the story The Speckled Band, 'When a doctor turns his mind to crime, he is first among criminals'.

Mercola’s new point of view is just as unequivocal as his old one: “The data is clear: vitamin K saves lives,” he wrote in an April article on his website two days after ProPublica contacted him. "Based on the totality of the published evidence, I support vitamin K prophylaxis for all newborns.” 🙏
