Signing into the Atmosphere is a bit of a lottery. This is a user problem. But it's also a builder problem. The Atmosphere needs a brand identify, a design system, tools for builders to drive broad dev and user adoption. wecanjustdothings.leaflet.pub/3mlv5oijn5s2q #ATmosphere 🌀 #ATproto 🪿

If we’re gonna have login with Atmosphere, do we not need an Atmosphere logo? @renderg.host

I’m still not sure that we want the atmosphere to have a strong brand. To give people the impression that there is someone “in charge” of the Atmosphere is misleading and could bite us later I’d rather atmosphere is more like log in with email than that it’s like Google OAuth for example!

Needed a little time to sit with this. I believe both are possible: help users identify a promise that this is all connected, without misleading them into thinking one org is running the whole show. It’s still just a design / communication challenge.

I guess the button idea is great, but also a way to sign up directly with email while also informing on what's happening under the hood (e.g. sign up with a default pds of choice, if user doesn't choose one) would remove a lot of friction.

that’s funny, this was the ultimate goal of the atmosphere site i was working on. i like the term “front door”, i think a service that remembers the apps and accounts a user has logged into could be very useful! nice work! gonna read more when i have some more time later

I was picking up what you were putting down, obviously. (as ze Germans say "zwei Dumme, ein Gedanke" 😛) It's a huge gap in the Atmosphere UX and could be a megaboost for every app that implements it. And you should design the brand.

yes but no. seems decently thought through but my main idea is to make this more of a frontdoor for the atmosphere. the current implementations of atpassport make it seem like its own own separate thing from the atmosphere. plus the design and copy work that would need to go into something like this

The atmosphere and the protocol are different things, conceptually. The protocol is a technology set, and the atmosphere is an ecosystem of products and services and communities resulting from that enablement.

I can’t wait for Atmospheric FedCM to be ready! Is there an account we should follow for news? (It may just be yours 😄)

There's a blog on leaflet, I'm actually behind on writing an article for it as I've been hammered by my chronic illness the past two weeks
