correct. the reason you have to do that with mafia cases is crime bosses tend to carefully insulate themselves from direct participation in the crimes. that is not what happened on January 6

Every law school “incitement” fact patten is like; “it’s very hard to prove this crime but the most frequent circumstances involve a speaker before an agitated crowd”.

For those of you too young to remember, W’s second AG got blackballed by Wall Street and had to settle for a professorship at 1/3 of the pay. People assumed it was because of the torture program, it was actually a warning to future Dem AGs NOT to investigate the GOP. Which they heeded.

Yeah, DOJ folks weren't happy with the Jan 6th committee activities - which didn't recommend prosecution for Trump until Dec 2022, a month after R's took back the House. I guess ppl would be happier if DOJ is had told Congress - don't do anything now - we have an investigation underway. Really?

Yeah but at least they got a bunch of convictions for the Jan 6th insurrection, the biggest investigation ever! It's not like that was completely useless and immediately mooted by the crime boss they let walk away coming back to pardon them all anyway. /is handed a note Oh dear... Oh no...

I am with Marcy Wheeler on “Garland / Monaco seized protected phones from lawyer co-conspirators and then spent the next year and a half getting access to their contents and breaking down lawyer-client confidentiality” so the info could be used at trial. Garland moved fast - legal system is slooow.

democrats are frustrated and outraged that guys like Platner are sneaking through the primary process and taking power (potentially) and yet at no point are they going to look in the mirror and bring up the complete failure of, say, Robert Muller. Entire offices of cowards hiding from duty.

They had everything they needed to prosecute him in publicly available tweets and CNN/Fox News clips but they decided, insanely, that the only way to make it stick was to try to come up with a convoluted conspiracy underpinning what was already plainly, obviously happening right out in the open.

Wow, I bet the author of that piece is taking a beating from that crazy woman that lives in Ireland and thinks Garland walks on water. Suggesting the Biden DOJ did anything wrong makes she and her followers absolutely livid.

We have recordings of Trump calling Georgia election officials demanding they alter the vote count and every time I remember that I have to take the dog for a long fucking walk.

fundamentally the problem is that Biden was an egomaniac who thought the self-abnegation of not going after Trump would burnish his credentials as a modern Cincinnatus; then he went out and hired a guy who wanted to run the exact same hustle

“There was nothing anyone could have legally done to prevent Trump from getting re-elected” is ominous coming from people who will almost certainly have to Trump-proof our institutions going forward.
