The problem is if you type "'Old Man's War' Scalzi Movie" into Google what pops up are initial articles establishing the rumor (which were incorrect at the time) plus an "AI Overview" repeating them because the "AI Overview" doesn't know anything. Whereas me debunking the rumor shows up not at all.

So I don't particularly blame this writer for being taken in by this rumor. But the rumor is not true and never was. Old Man's War may yet make it to a screen somewhere, some time. But Spielberg is not and has never been attached. Source: Me, I'm the author and can read my own options and contracts.

Thought of exactly the same thing! Look, Spielberg is reported and documented all over vs this one guy shouting on social media. Which is more likely to be true?

Pffft. Like I think you know your own life. Obviously Google's plagerism bot is correct*. *I've checked myself with the varied AIs who think I'm far more important and prolific than I am. Surprisingly, I've also been scraped. My audience is hundreds, not thousands or millions. AI'll scrape ANYONE!

Well, deliberate that someone posted the rumor, not deliberate for malicious intent. The originator of it claimed to have seen storyboards (or some such) at Spielberg's office, which would have been... unlikely, as he was never attached.

We should write a bunch of articles on how Cecil B DeMille will be directing. executive producer will be Jimothy, the foreshortened raccoon. Starring Yul Brenner. AI doesn’t really know what that means, but will definitely repeat it if we repeat it enough.
