How about "leave your mark" working with Minnesota M, or "leave a legacy." That makes sense. "Keep on Truckin" is nice. Nobody quite knows what it means but Minnesota has a lot of transport infrastructure. So there's that. All freebies.

“Hey Claude. Please generate 5 totally awesome new slogans for my client, a university in the upper Midwest.”

That is an absurd amount of money for something so cryptic. But without reading the article, I’m going to guess it means don’t destroy the planet?

Can’t imagine why the U has such a hard time getting more funding from MN Legislature. Meanwhile, layoff notices are going out. The slow drift away from a publicly minded institution continues and is replaced by…

How in the fucking fuck could a college administration allow even one quarter of that expense for a fucking tagline?? This is all the proof anyone needs in order to know that the entire leadership of an educational institution is fucking detached from reality and must be removed. Start at the TOP.

For sure... but it's still an insane number. 15MM in fee is a decent size national account. It's possible they've made the classic ad spend reporting mistake and that includes the media buy too in which case its still A LOT for a university but not "absolutely insane" which it is now!

We had a new library director who wanted us to get a new logo. Neighboring system got raked over the coals for paying $1.6M for a new slogan. She decided our logo was FINE. Other system tried making it better by saying "but they also gave us a new website header with it!" $15M is bonkers!

$15M at 4% interest per year yields $600,000. That's enough to pay 6-10 tenure track professors (or a couple Deans, if that's your thing) in perpetuity... Unreal waste of money. Never getting a dime from this alum.

I'm back at school as a grad student (again) and getting about $15k in stipend, so it would fund a whole lot of us, and as TAs too! As I always say, follow the money if you want questions answered. I also say, stop putting profits over people, but that's another rant.
