VIVIAN MAIER was a Nanny for 40yrs who unbeknownst to anyone spent her free time taking over 150,000 photos of whatever interested her. 2yrs before she died her photos were found in a lock up she’d failed to keep up payments on and her decades of incredible work suddenly exploded upon the world.

If you plan to watch a livestreamed public execution, chances are you would have attended a lynching 100 years ago. This is no different. Shame on you—whoever you are. #ProudBlue #ResistanceUnited #USDemocracy #Voices4Victory www.newsweek.com/pete-hegseth...

The filmmaking is astonishing in its greatness. The acting, too. The happy slave banter in the opening exposes an extraordinary ignorance towards the horror of slavery and it never redeems itself.

⚠️WOKE CONTENT⚠️™️ 🧵 Nov. 11, 1909, Cairo, Illinois was the site of one of the most violent lynchings in American history. A mob not only lynched William James—a White man was lynched as well. Yep. A double lynching. Pull up a seat🪑.(cont) #ProudBlue #ResistanceRoots #USDemocracy #Voices4Victory

Seriously, what kind of country does this? Federal appeals court said to stop it, they needed more time to consider the facts. Supreme Court says no, don't wait, over the objection of the 3 liberals. Execution is rushed and botched. This is cruel and unusual punishment, pure and simple.

Christa Pike, who was supposed to be the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years, is still alive after the state tried and failed to execute her on Wednesday. TDOC officials refused to comment after the state’s second failed execution this year. nashvillebanner.com/2026/09/30/c...

I don't love dunking on folks but it's so fucking funny to me that Trump was convicted of 34 felonies 2 years ago, faced no punishment, and went on to win the presidency a second time and journalists are still like, "hmm, I have an inkling that maybe he believes he's above the law for some reason."

As governor, this absolute shitpiece removed a mural from Maine's Department of Labor building honoring Maine native Frances Perkins -- one of the finest Americans of the last century and the person most responsible for ending child labor, creating worker safety codes and birthing Social Security.

Republican nominee for Maine’s 2nd congressional district Paul LePage says he supports Trump and ICE but is outraged they are deporting one of his relatives: “He’s being deported because he came from a country that’s not to the liking of certain people in Washington.”

What I can't get over is the Dems out there trying to transphobia their way out of these numbers. Just out there riding the crest of the wave, doing morally unsupportable pandering to bigotry at a time when it is also strategically foolish, just for love of the capitulation game.

John Muller@mrjohnmuller.bsky.social

I don't think Trump is going to be able to transphobia his way out of these numbers. He's gonna try, it will be absolutely disgusting and incredibly harmful, and it will fail.

Hard to overstate how fake this "national security" justification for the Arch is. If we need new defense structures and capabilities for the nation's capital, there are large military bases very close by in DC and Northern Virginia that can host them. wapo.st/4hojaMW

Apparently more than one outlet has been doing the bizarre "interview AI generated actor Tilly Norwood" thing and on Piers Morgan it glitches out and starts speaking Chinese. I promise its much, much funnier than it sounds.

The simple solution is to stop acting as if trans people playing sports is a problem rather that a cynical bigoted misogynistic wedge issue and simply let trans people play sports if they want to.

Jared Kushner is not "on the other side of the aisle." He's not an elected official. He's not an administration official. He's the president's son-in-law and a private citizen. You do not, in fact, have to take meetings with relatives of the president. Some might even say you should *not* do that

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Jeffries defends his meeting with Kushner: "I'm of the view that if we're going to be committed to actually solving problems on behalf of the American people ... they're are gonna be times that you have to speak with people on the other side of the aisle. Even people you strongly disagree with."

It doesn't speak well for America's capacity to govern itself at the moment that an industry worth tens of billions of $$, which operates openly & employs 100,000+ workers, is technically illegal for no reason anyone can articulate such that some courts will refuse to enforce their contracts.

Three weeks after 9/11, the city chose a cover-up over public safety. Jon Stewart described poison in the air & ground, coating clothes, pets, and air conditioners for months. People who survived the attacks were sent into toxic dust because “business as usual” mattered more.

October 17: vote early, take the next step, and make your voice impossible to ignore. We do not need a king, a crown, or another lecture about knowing our place. We need voters ready to protect their power. RSVP, show up, and bring somebody.

Let's say you spend $200 on groceries. Let's also say a consumption tax makes that $220. There is no difference between paying $200 and $0 tax compared to $220 and getting $20 in UBI. Yes you can limit consumption taxes to certain approved stuff, but that just requires unnecessary admin overhead.
