The train, however, has left the station and has left Rubio standing by himself on the platform, baggage in hand...... www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgjy...
WTF is this? The bar is so low for this regime. Stick with @anneapplebaum.bsky.social
So because there were no threats or belligerency - just a quiet menacing messaging of badly-disguised racism, white nationalism & warped bigoted christian superiority, you’re praising a white (literally) washed American gaslighting speech to Europe. You are shameful @theatlantic.com
As someone who actually watched the speech...
In the speech Marco Rubio: -Calls colonialism good -Condemns anti-colonial revolutions, implied they were "godless" -Calls for a reconquest of the global south, explicitly for resources -Refers to migration as the biggest threat facing "the west" -Says the U.S. will always be a European nation 1/3
Far better analysis here: bsky.app/profile/empt...
I apologize for my continued obsession with the cultural and historic shitshow that was Marco Rubio's speech in Munich. But can anyone explain the problem with this passage, from America's Cuban-American Secretary of State? www.state.gov/releases/off...
Rubio built on the Vance destruction and Trump’s incoherence. But @theatlantic.com decides that since Rubio didn’t shit the bed as bad as Vance he’s reassuring Europe. Then Rubio leaves and meets with the new authoritarian allies! Shame on The Atlantic for joining the MAGA media. #TheAtlanticRIP
