Fun fact. Canada has a King. The monarchy has an intregral role as nonpartisan advisors to and as diplomats for the elected majority govt party.The result? A strong, functioning constitutional democracy.Saying "nokings" is just pussy footing around to avoid saying America is now a dictatorship.

They can't actually remove them, That choice they rightfully believe is the right of the people alone not theirs. They are however able to put the brakes on a government action which is clearly unconstitutional or contrary to a treaty with a foreign nation. But it goes both ways.

I know my thought exactly. Todays constitutional monarchies provide the stabilizing function of being loyal to the constitution as elected parties came and went. From the start Aristotle argued that democracy could work but agreed with Plato it was one step from anarchy if the rules were abused.

There are other units of the California National Guard. Send them in to protect the citizens from ICE and the complicit units of the National Guard who are currently following illegal orders. Or, ask for assistance from the governors of surrounding states and their National Guard units.

Exactly! A total work stoppage with empty streets,stores, and job sites is the way to stop this. The workers can afford a few days without pay, we are forced to do it all the time. The rich will panic! We do the work they take the money. When we stop working the rich will eat each other.

Newsom should order LAPD not to carry ANY firearms while on crowd control duty. They can show the good faith that they're there to PROTECT, NOT SUBJUGATE, or they can fuck the hell off. Esp the "less lethal rounds" nonsense. That's SOLELY designed to encourage pigs to feel safe pulling triggers.

Tbf, he's sued the Trump administration, a first reasonable step in pushing back. When you're an elected official, words do (or, at least, should) matter. So speaking out isn't "nothing". However, the test will be how he might respond if the court sides with Trump. Or Trump if ignores the outcome.

Newsom is doing what can *legally* be done. The problem is that SCOTUS--through its unconscionable decisions--has rendered the legal means of stopping Trump powerless. The only *legal* means the people have to stop Trump are through Congress, but the GOP remains steadfast behind Trump.

He can *legally* order CA law enforcement to arrest ICE for violating state laws & shutter their facilities in CA as being part of a criminal organization. He has tremendous executive authority & a lot of state resources at his disposal, like the 2nd largest DOJ in the country.
