For your Monday, here's one of the JWST Deep Field images. This is a portion of the sky about one-fifth the size of a full Moon. And it contains THOUSANDS of galaxies—some of which extend back to when the Universe was a couple of billion years old. The redder a galaxy, the farther away it is.

Take any single portion of this image and you'll find hundreds and hundreds of galaxies. Each hosting hundreds of millions to hundreds of *billions* of stars. Countless, unknowable planets—but on the basis of what we see in the Milky Way, probably hundreds of billions to trillions of planets.

I have no idea how far away this galaxy is, nor how big it is. (That information is obtainable, I just don't have it.) But more than anything, I wonder if there are people there, looking back.

It's so refreshing to look at comments about space and not have anyone cry "FAKE!!! CGI!!!" (You've probably guessed I'm from Twitter where the idiots exist)
