If I'd loudly, and at length, bemoaned the fact that Muhammad being a popular name in Ireland was a sign of creeping Sharia law, I think it would come up. With Linehan it doesn't. Because frothing transphobia is not merely excused. It's worse. If you hate trans people enough, all else is forgiven

i've been increasingly feeling Eh on F1 for a variety of reasons and there's always been the less than great taste in my mouth about the nature of the sport, but this is such a targeted Fuck You to their trans viewers that i think i am done with the sport and will not be renewing my subscription.

Mickayla@mic-burke.bsky.social

as a trans racing fan i’m not sure how i am meant to interpret F1 giving Sophie Cunningham the checkered flag at COTA besides an explicit statement of support for powerful people who would seek to exclude me and my friends from society

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover. As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible. PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.

this whole 🧵, but just to focus on Singal's assertion that its "possible to criticise a movement w/o being needlessly cruel to an individual". In the context of trans rights, no it isn't. Trans people arent struggling under mean words and criticism. Their ability to live openly is under broad attack

Anti trans laws are exploding. Anti trans rhetoric in media and politics is normalised. Trans people are victimised at every possible level. a Trans people are dying. The cruelty is the point, Jesse. If you're unconfortable with it, maybe reconsider the side you're on, rather than whine about it

by some of the wealthiest, most powerful people in the world. Otherwise "moderate" presenting politicians will take time out from running for office or running a country to reiterate their anti trans beliefs. Trans people are routinely denied healthcare, abused, harrassed and murdered.

JKR does not believe that that trans people are a real social category. She thinks they are deluded, pitiable, and mentally ill. She cannot abide a society in which they are seen as anything else. Out, proud, happy trans women are her target. They should not exist. They do not exist.

Just 10 people have already poured over $1 BILLION into this year’s midterm elections. 90% has gone to Republicans. In the entire 2008 presidential cycle, the last election before Citizens United, total billionaire spending was $16 million. We need to get Big Money out of our democracy.

4. this is the key issue - the reason we go for expansion over any other reform is that it's a) fast and b) constitutional this court will rule against any other restriction on its power, like term limits, and any delayed reform will be repealed by republicans this breaks their power immediately

This "guidance", the article reporting it, most of the people quoted in it, and the people whose money and actions resulted in this outcome, are disgusting. In 30 years we will look at this the way we now look at Falwell-style rhetoric about AIDS.

Hey, I’m just asking questions. Ignorant questions, bigoted questions, questions that have been repeatedly answered for many years. Sorry, but I’m not listening to answers right now; I’m far too busy asking questions. It’s called being intellectually curious.

It remains disturbing to me how many Democrat supporters do not understand that democracy is a popularity contest, and if they continually select and support unpopular candidates with unpopular ideas (like "genocide=fine actually" and "AI>healthcare") it will remain hard to win the contest
