I think it’s hard but not impossible. Being an expatriate professional is probably one of the easier ways, though. Or marriage.

I thought I read it was difficult. My cousin met a Swede and married him. When they retired they moved to Sweden. She doesn't like it. Culture differences. I, too, love my coyotes and wild horses, donkeys and flying peacocks. Also a desert dweller and hate BLM.

Agree completely, not only beauty but an inclusive country that is remarkably clean as well. We just did an Oslo-Balestrand-Bergen trip, it was remarkable on every level. Not only beautiful but the way the Norwegian people are taken care of by their government and how inclusive the population is.

It’s either Mofjorden or Romarheimsfjorden I’m not sure. We hired a cruiser out of Bergen to Modalen and I think this photo is a place called Vika along the way.

This looks like heaven on earth. You know what's funny is that most Scandinavian countries and even Nordic ones are some of the happiest people in the world. Yet our idiotic president can't understand why we can't them to emigrate their respective countries and come here? wtf?

My hope is to visit my grandma's birth place a village called Vikten on Flakstad island, one of the Lofoten Islands. There is now a glass blowing museum on my great grandfather's farm. I wonder what he would have thought about that? 🤔

It is absolutely breathtaking. I really don't know how the Norwegians who live there don't have permanent jaw-drop from all that majestic beauty... it is something...beyond.

It’s gorgeous. We went on a cruise and that was one of our stops. We went on this speedboat that went up and down the fjords. We had to wear special outfits so we wouldn’t be cold. We were weaving in and out of all the areas and all the waterfalls. It was my absolute favorite excursion.

Others will be more widely travelled than me I’m sure, but of the 25 or so countries I’ve been to, Norway is definitely the most beautiful.

I once got the train from Oslo to Andalsnes; a wonderful journey to a gorgeous part of Norway, the Romsdal region. I also did the journey from Oslo to Dombas, was met by my parents & we drove down the valley, following the River Rauma to Andalsnes.Happy memories from the 1960’s when Norway was poor!

Not cheap, no. After the first week I started to feel like I was spending Monopoly money, ha! Food is great and everyone is friendly.

The Western fjords are so ridiculously beautiful that I was almost getting mad driving through them. “Another five waterfalls! A perfect fishing village! A fjord that is somehow higher than the last fjord!” Gimme a strip mall or a big box store, my photographer’s brain can’t take much more of this!

Thanks! The fiddly bits I did are quite nice, aren't they? Here's an early prototype. (If you don't get the reference, read the image ALT text 😊)

I saw a moose and a deer while I was there! The birding was mostly disappointing. Mostly gulls and jackdaws, the usual pigeons in the cities. I did see a cute male wagtail trying to impress a nearby female and that was a new one for me.

This is just some random location. I grew up in Norway and had some kind of vague idea about doing landscape photography. That's pretty pointless over there as you can pretty much just point a camera at something and come up with a pretty decent photo. I've found even Hawaii more difficult.

And the crazy thing is, that Fjiord between the photographer and the houses on the far side is probably between 2000 - 3000 foot deep!

Same. I went in April for the first time. Oslo and Bergen, and hired a car to have a look around. Stunningly beautiful country. It's on my mind a lot!

QtipsANON. May I suggest a Hurtigruten cruise from Bergen to Kirkenes! Fantastic photo opportunities. A small cabin by the Barents Sea. Imagine sitting there at night under a blanket of stars, listening to the silence.

I live in Norway, and I'm surprised how much the population has grown since yesterday when we were only 5,6 million people here... The summer and spring is so beautiful here it makes you last through the winter just by thinking about the spring that will come ❤️🇳🇴

I can imagine. I'm learning a bit of Swedish and now I can also understand a bit of Norwegian. I was surprised at how similar Swedish and Norwegian are. I often watch Nordic crime series on Prime in both languages. Recently, I watched the Norwegian series Pernilla and enjoyed it a lot.

My best friend growing up (down the block) her father Thor was from Norway. He was amazing, and Good lord he was a presence🤣😂. Shorts in winter in the 70’s b/c it wasn’t Norway cold. Returned to his home after the kids were grown. He’s passed away many years now but the memories I still hold dear.

My great-grandparents and other relatives emigrated from Norway to the US from Østre Gausdal in Old Oppland County, and the Bergen area. I had a chance to visit last year. It is absolutely stunning. My maiden name was Rasmussen but my Grandfather spelled his Rassmusson.

Mine came from Vinstra. My sister and I visited a couple of years ago. We sailed the coast from Kirkeness to Bergen. Traveled by train and ferry to Oslo. Then rented a car and drove through Gudbransdalen. It was glorious! I found all of it beautiful.

QtipsANON. 'I had no idea how beautiful Norway is.' Yes it certainly is. My photos from a Hurtigruten cruise. Approaching Lofoten Island. On the way to The Nord Kap.

I found Norway to be a wonderful contrast to the US. The people, the environment, the intelligence, the land. Yes, it does seem quite staid and buttoned down. But it isn't. Weekends were like a nationwide frat party. Then come Monday, not a blade of grass out of place. I was amazed

Sounds amazing, actually. I like that everyone just switches off and heads to the mountains, very different from what I’m used to. Must be a great atmosphere in Oslo that time of year.
